I considered adding this to What Have You Manifested Recently? but thought the discoveries made merited their own post. Here is what I discovered... I am no master manifestator by any stretch of the imagination. Although imagination plays a pretty big part. I simply imagine things in my mind and EXPECT them to come to me. Does that sound presumptuous? Some people call it positive expectation or visualization. For me it is more like the kind of anticipation a kid feels when they KNOW they are going to get a bike for Christmas. Here is how it played out recently... I was traveling by train into the city the day before I 'manifested' a trip to Japan (see post above). On the way a lady who was sitting beside me suddenly started chatting. I soon discovered that she is a curator/art dealer and promotes Australian art overseas - primarily in Asia. After an interesting train ride she gave me her business card and asked me to call her when I got back from Japan. A month later I decided to call her. We chatted some and it turned out that she needed someone to help her promote some Aboriginal artists in Hong Kong. As it happens I know a BIT about website design and promotion. I build websites for fun. I am not a professional designer or computer geek. Some of my websites can pull in 10,000 visitors a day and make me a surprising amount of money considering I do very little on them. My point is that I am just an average guy. I have no skills out of the ordinary and I am by no means rich (yet!). I still rent a house in an expensive suburb of Melbourne because I hate the thoughts of my kids growing up in a bad neighborhood. As a result it is really hard to buy a house in the kind of neighborhood I'd like to live. I constantly imagine owning a house in a perfect place. Two days ago I got a message from someone close to me who had just sold their house overseas and decided they wanted to retire in Spain. The kind of price they fetched for their house would buy two or three house in Australia. So they offered to front the cash for a property in Australia. This is on the same day my little girl got a place in a really hard to get into Steiner school that we have been enlisted for in years. It really seems that the less I try to manifest the more I am receiving...

I wonder what "the less I try" means or feels like to you. |

| I am glad you noticed wolfgang Lao Tzu taught that Tao or The Way was a way of ‘non-action’ – not inaction but rather a harmonization of one’s personal will with the natural flow of life. As the great sage above said - it is not inaction but non action. Who knows what lies behind the veil of the manifest world in the realm of the unmanifest. One way I access it is by stilling my mind. Here is what I do sometimes... I imagine my mind is like a lake. I can see small waves and hear the water lapping against the shore. I imagine that my thoughts are like waves causing ripples in the lake. Then I try to still my thoughts so that the lake becomes perfectly calm. If a thought enters my mind is causes a little wave. I simply allow the wave to lap against the shore. It is similar to the feeling of letting go of a thought. It creates a small wave and then it is gone. When the lake has become perfectly calm I am usually in a deeply relaxed state and can use that moment for intentions. When I introduce an intention it is like a pebble dropping into this great big lake causing ripples to emanate across the entire lake. Then I just let it go...

Thanks Hazel and Wolfgang! As anyone who has tried to quieten the internal chatter or meditate will tell you that it can take quite a lot of practice. This is the method I find most effective in stilling my mind.
