Default Anxiety and depression affecting IM?

Hey all,

I sometimes struggle with negative thoughts due to anxiety and depression symptoms, but whenever I realize my thoughts are negative I try to correct them. Does IM give people a break if they have this problem? I like to think that it does, because none of the things I worry about actually happen. (I guess that's where the "intent" part comes in?)

I think you'll need to get rid of that negativity for much to happen. I believe you need to be calm and relaxed, surrender yourself to the source, trust that whatever happens will be for the best even if it's not what you thought you wanted.

I got rid of most of my anxiety and depression thusly (inspired by the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know?"): these feelings are promoted by chemicals in the body. The body/mind become acclimated to the chemicals, and when they are not present, we crave them like an addictive substance. Also, when the chemical takes effect, we need to come up with reasons to feel depressed or anxious. If you pay close attention, you'll see there's a tiny split second where you begin to feel bad, then your mind comes up with a reason why you feel that way. Once I realized it was the chemicals doing it to me, I was easily able to conquer the feelings. It's like realizing you're drunk and snapping out of it.

As the saying goes you get more of what you focus on, I used to think terrible thoughts and felt bad as a result of that but glad I stopped it was suppressing my energy to do things.

Aria, while it's true that we're always creating every minute with every thought and feeling, it's acculumation of these--what Abraham refers to as our "predominant vibration"--that determines what manifests for us. So, if you can work to minimize your negative thoughts, you will find that positive things will manifest themselves for you more quickly.

Use these "episodes" as learning experiences. See if you can notice the feelings before they become full-blown anxiety or depression and when you notice the beginnings of the thought pattern, use the many techniques on this board (or in books, etc.) to shift your thoughts before they begin their downward spiral.

I agree with fellowtraveler that, for some, emotional pain can be habit-forming and, for me, that idea is very liberating. When I find myself at a negative thought pattern, I can recognize it as an old habit and say, "Ah, yes, I remember this; I don't need this old habit any longer." That realization alone is often enough to stop the spiral.

If you honestly and consistently clean up the thought patterns that no longer serve your wellbeing, then you will notice that they occur less and less and for shorter periods of time. When you're at that point, I wouldn't worry about them too much; remember your manifestations are aligned with the predominant vibration that you offer. Just keep shifting your thoughts to better and better ones; the Universe will help you with the rest.

Hope this helps.

I suffered from both anxiety and depression as well. You don't have to "correct" your feelings. Take the judgement off of them. Our emotions are not something we have to "fix" ~ emotions are our souls way of trying to tell us something. Suppressing them or ignoring or pretending to feel differently doesn't work in the long-term.

I highly recommend The Attraction Distraction by Sonia Miller, she has practicle advise on how to FEEL emotions and then release them. Dr. Wayne Dyer talks about that in his books, too.

As you work on feeling and releasing undesired emotions, feel good about what you CAN feel good about. Maybe, "I am learning how to feel better." or something like that. It starts to snowball from that point.

I AM allowing myself to feel joy. I am allowing myself to feel good about wanting what I want. I allow myself to feel deserving of happiness. I allow myself to just focus on feeling good right now.
