But as for the majority of people and what they can or cannot do:

Have you ever noticed how it seems that whatever people are able to do psychically, there always has to be some way to "explain it away" for sceptics? I think this is part of the "rules" of this world that things that would shock people into rejection are only allowed when they (the people that reject these psychic phenomena) can construe "normal" explanations.

I think it has to do with the "average consciousness" on our planet. The rules may change when we grow as a people. In fact, I think they're already loosening up, when I look at places such as this forum and others.

So, in a way, we made these rules, and they are watched over for us so we can here have the experience we strive for. For some, this is the experience of "awakening" out of the stricter ruleset, for others it is to experience life without "all the razz" and just by immersing themselves in some very strict physical rules, cause and effect, enjoyment and suffering.

I will not say it is impossible to transcend this reality. Drug induced states of mind are not what OP was referring to, though, the way I understood it. I think they wanted to really bring things to life in this here world, and this would be somewhat more difficult because of what I just stated.

Since death is nothing to be too concerned about...why go against half the universe and an endless number of minds who want to experience this exactly the way it is in order to experience something that is so easy to have in another life and universe once you give up this one?

yeah well it seems like the OP isn't paying attention to what already is, like many of us. it already is incredible to even be alive in this moment. why the need to imagine something else and try to go there? to escape? it seems like a kid that doesn't like their toys and tossing them aside and tells their parents they what something else.

if one is able to totally immerse themselves in the here and now, the universe is fantastic as is. we forget how amazing it is to be alive! all these other desires to dream up a different world where you can fly or something is a resistance to the current universe and that is a major block to going anywhere else. the only way to different worlds is through the one you find yourself in right now. if it feels like there's limitation, that you can't fly, it's because you are generating a feeling that it's not good enough right now and judging the current miracle that is already given to you. you want to desire something else that is totally different - because you are in resistance of what already is here. if the resistance was gone, if you accept how it is - and it's not because there are rules - the universe exposes such a grandeur that there's no need to imagine and try to escape and do something fantastic because it already is fantastic and totally wondrous.

"dreaming big" is a response to the resistance and judgments. the dreaming big or fantasy type universes is ignoring what is already given - disrespecting life as it were. just my reaction...

I see what you're saying wolf.. but the question is.. then why invent electricity? why invent youtube? why invent the internet? why even try?

Evolution is just this.. we see the world around us and we desire to change it.. to make it a little better.. isn't that what were really talking about here??

I see this limitation game as helping to draw out what we do want.. there's nothing wrong with appreciating it as is.. but the idea for some of us is; we want the next level and we think we are ready for that next level.. I didn't say we could reach it.. but for damn sure.. I'm going to try like hell (post #999 )

I like to think new ideas come from the space of accepting and surrender more than from rejecting the now and judgments.

so it's up to the dreamer to know if big dreams are a reaction to not liking what is or a launching from acceptance of the now.

evolution didn't throw away what was, to get to a new form. it was growth from total acceptance of the old form that, once used as a launching pad, could be shed.

I think that you might like the anime "Revolutionary Girl Utena", it takes place at this "school" which could be like our world, and everyone is trapped in someway (or still in their coffins, as the show likes to say, there is a lot of visual symbolism)- anyways, at the end, Utena, the main character, mysteriously disappears into "the outside world" and Anthy follows her. The movie version of this has them literally running to escape their current reality and break into a new world.

My whole life I've felt this way, I was the only kid who spent their spare time fantasizing rather than thinking about their social life or their favorite bands. I think we can find a way out of our coffins too.
