Exclamation Landmark Forum advice needed

A very good friend of mine attended Landmark Forum in Cape Town after several months of depression, likely triggered by a divorce from his wife. After he attended this training he began speaking about being open to possibilities, not living inside a box, and making contact with amazing people. He expressed a lot more enthusiasm for life and demonstrated more certainty about living life to the full.

However, I recall another very good friend of mine, that I have know for many more years tell me back in 1999 about how cult like Landmark Forum people are. One of the common outcomes is that the people who attended hard sell the the course to their friends.

My friend has relaxed a little bit on insisting that I go. Once again I am confused because I read both very positive and very negative reviews on the web.

After discovering the work of Dr John Demartini, which dovetails beautifully with Steve Pavlina's very pragmatic approach to personal development, I do not want to move, yet again, to another system or way of thinking. I have found some tried and tested principles in this website. I have already completed Demartini's Breakthrough Experience and the Speed Reading seminar. And this is the path I have chosen to follow.

I need some objective assessment from this forum, excuse the pun, on how to evaluate whether to going on the Landmark Forum training or not. I have no idea of what will be covered or the cost. I only have the dates.

Sincerely
Ramon

I have only a subjective report, not an objective one. I LOVED the Landmark Forum and the Advanced Course. Loved, loved, loved loved it. I highly recommend it.

They do their marketing by having participants share it while they're right in the middle of the "high" you get from participating, but one of the biggest things I got out of it was a high quality "no." Learning how to hear their vigorous suggestions that I make it a point to have everyone do Landmark, and not have it mean anything about me, or feel trapped or pressured, etc.

A few of the things I got out of participating:

* An entirely new perspective on romantic relationships
* A real sense of my beauty and worth
* The ability to speak in front of a group with zero fear
* The shedding of social shyness once and for all
* A new relationship with my brother, which had been totally broken
* A view of people that had more love and connection than I had ever dreamed possible
* A feeling of incredible creative power
* As I mentioned, a powerful and high-quality "No" in the face of feeling obligated or pressured.

And a continuing bunch of other stuff, too. It's not a cult. I'm not involved in the organization -- I don't get paid or volunteer or hang out with landmarkies. But I still use the stuff I got out of it years ago in my life today, and it makes a difference.
