I am inclined to think that we are at the cusp of a "consciousness revolution" (kinda like the industrial revolution)....where more & more people are discovering and using the power of their minds (including IM'ng) in an increasingly sophisticated way...which is pretty exciting!

That being said, for me, it's important to be in tune with the greater good in order to operate at a high level. For me, this is accomplished through meditation. I have a problem with a lot of what I see about IM - oftentimes it seems to boil down to wishing for material stuff in a pretty surfacy and egotistical way - I believe that if I operate in that manner it could easily be misguided...(Be careful what you wish for). What is your opinion?

I don't think there's a problem with material gain but people do need to keep a close eye on their motivations. If they're ruthless and their only desire is to get what they want regardless of the consequences they need to understand that whatever harm they inflict will be dealt back to them. A cell within a larger body will quickly die if the body itself isn't being cared for.

It isn't obvious but some of these desires do have a positive impact on the greater good. The more comfortable a person is, the wealthier a person is, the less worries that person has to deal with. It's easier to stay in good health when you've got a bit of money since you can afford to buy better foods for yourself, and a gym membership so you can keep your body in shape. The healthier you are, the more you have to give. Your mind gets sharper, you're more creative...

When such things aren't manifested with good aims in mind, when they're used to the detriment of the manifester and those around the manifester, that isn't wrong either. It's just another mode of learning. If people want to learn things the hard way, let them. Some of us secretly like pain. There's no stopping someone truly devoted to such a path. It's a greater benefit to help those who wish to be helped than to struggle with those who can't see, who refuse to see, the probable outcome of their intentions and actions.
