As many of you know I am a singer/voice teacher. I haven't felt really fulfilled through teaching and while it has been my only real source of income my inner voice has been guiding me for months to stop teaching. If I turn my focus inward I hear/feel "Stop teaching. Give up the students. Forget them, it is time to move on". So, after months of hesitation I made the decision yesterday to not accept any more students and to dissolve my current class over the next few months. I turned one prospective student away and mentally planned the next months concerning the remainder of my class. I also started looking for someone to take over my studio. It felt very freeing and good even though I have no sign as to what the next step for me is.

The thing that has got me all confused now is that I have received more requests for voice lessons today from prospective students than in the last weeks combined. I just don't get it. What is the universe trying to tell me? What am I supposed to do?

Maybe a test, to make sure you are serious? When I changed my path, I had many many people asking me if I was absolutely sure I wanted to do this, and I took it as a test, as there's no turning back.

Any period of transition is a bit like spring cleaning - everything connected to your old way of life is brought into the light as you replace your old reality with the new. The sudden influx of requests is reflective of this shift in energy.

You can also, I guess, call it a test in the sense that this sudden influx of requests will highlight for you if you have any residual uncertainty about your choice. You can now confirm your choice with the universe by turning away these potential students, and take inspired action to deal with any doubts that you may have.

Well, I honestly don't know how the Universe could expect me to be 100% sure about this decision. The only thing I am going on is a feeling. This is a leap of faith.

In any case, I told the new prospects that I am no longer accepting new students. Very scary but exciting stuff.
