What was the most valuable thing you got out of the webinars, Uberinquisitive? Was there something in there that you didn't find in the books?

I read A New Earth first, not even knowing about The Power of Now. I LOVED it,and felt like it was the most refreshing unique awakening book EVER,others dont even compare. Then i borrowed Practicing The Power of Now from my mom and i'm about 1/3 of the way through that, but so far it seems redundant, like the same thing over and over. But i shouldn't really say much about it until i get through it all. I have seen the first webcast on Oprah's site which was really good and i just wish they werent so long so i could get the rest of them in!

Edit: I have a co-worker that read A New Earth too,and she said she didnt like it at all, because it wasnt enough like The Secret LOL But this shouldnt count because she is a very negative, gossipy person who doesnt even follow what The Secret says! I think she just wants a quick fix and doesnt have the focus, patience or open mind to read Tolle.

Brutha - Are you looking for more practical advice on being in the now or the philosophy behind it, or exercises to be in the now?
Tolle is referenced a lot on discussion in this forum and seems to have an valuable perspective for a lot of people.
I don't know whether I will agree with him, but I mainly want to check out his perspective.
I'm open to whatever I will find when I read the book.

My advice would be just to realise that in his book he is describing a state that can't be described. Therefore that is why some of his book is really confusing. This is the one thing I didn't really understand while I was reading. Other than that all of the choices are great.

Oh and A New Earth is only running for $7.00 bucks right now. Pretty cheap =)

Just my 2 cents.

Oprah is a very profound question-asker. She would probe Eckhart in often bold ways, and Eckhart would answer them with amazing clarity.

Also, people would video Skype/call/email in their questions - and Eckhart would offer some very practical suggestions. Amazingly practical answers, such as "do x for y days, and see what happens." (I'm not interested in answers such as "just think more positive" or "just know you are").

The books are a good jumping off point, but the webinars are like the more advanced course. Eckhart is extremely lucid is ways that I can't even explain.

I think it's because he speaks alot of truth in his books. He gives tons and tons of information and advice on pretty much everything. Also I believe he is the first person ever to have all his books and teachings endorsed on a worldwide scale. Like he said in his readings, (paraphrased) "Life wrote the book through him" and that type of wisdom is probably the greatest I have ever witnessed.

I believe this is because people "think" spiritual enlightenment is some hardcore achievement or some great accomplishment. Well yes it is on the spiritual level...but it doesn't greatly effect other levels of your life (mental, intuition ect.) as much as one would think it would.

It sure has affected my mental, intuition, etc. GREATLY. In fact, my intuition has increased in very dramatic ways, now that there are fewer "mental voices" for me to push away.

Still

Eckhart Tolle himself said in the Oprah webinar:

Quote:
Intuition comes out of presence; out of the present moment. So bringing presence to a situation, then that means you become absolutely sensitive.
I'm not sure where you're coming with the statement:

Because that seems to go against EVERYTHING Tolle says! Chapter 9 of PoN is totally about this subject. He states, around page 200, that changing your perspective to the intense NOW so radically changes your life...that if enough people shifted to the NOW, then even nature and the animal kingdom would change.

Everything in your life - your physical, mental, intuition, EVERYTHING - would change once you reach intense NOW. That is "enlightenment." It is not a goal to work towards.

Tolle's most fundamental message: enlightenment is available right NOW.

In my martial arts training, we start each session with a bow-in ceremony and a statement in Japanese. One of the translations for the statement can be translated as:

"Every moment carries with it the potential for Enlightenment"

I knew that for a while and thought it was cool, but then one day I all of a sudden realized the magnitude of the statement... think of it from this perspective:

"EVERY MOMENT carries with it the potential for Enlightenment"

Meaning, EVERY moment, not just some moments, or a string of moments put together....the wisdom that is being taught is that EVERY moment has the potential to teach you Enlightenment...that means even right now as you're reading what I'm writing here... and the next moment, and the moment when you're sitting on the toilet, and the moment when you're stuck in traffic, etc. EVERY MOMENT...not just some, but all...

When I realized that...I had a major shift in my thinking...

I think Tolle's message is the same.

Thanks, but I didn't say it. The grandmaster of the martial art I study said it, and I just realized one day what he meant.
