OK, this is a deep-rooted issue of mine, and thinking about it I realize it merits it's own thread. I keep reading than when one is 'in the flow' of IM/LoA, it ought to feel downright effortless and easy, and also that one should 'move in the direction of one's dreams' as a way to apply IM/Loa. Well, it seems to me that the first step (or first several steps?) of following my dreams must involve research, and a good amount of it. My problem is that since at least high school, I have been conditioned to think of research, particularly of a systematic sort, to be dull and tedious, almost like a punishment. Memories of being stuck in a dusty library when I'd rather have been drawing or daydreaming etc. come full force whenever I contemplate the dreaded 'R' word. How should I banish this psychic beast? It's hard for me to bare my soul in this particular area, but I won't get out of my rut if I don't start airing out my laundry and reading the advice I confess to dreading as well (and I apologize in advance if I cause any of you to "manifest" scary posts in response to my fears [half-kidding])... Thanks! Last edited by Wax Frog; 06-07-2008 at 02:01 AM. |

And interestingly the effortlessness of how IM is supposed to go, can, in this case, be applied directly to the approach to learning about IM. Find out why you want to learn about this stuff and realize that motivation is effortless because of the interest level. Otherwise you are doing something that is not really in your field of desire. | |

Isn't this the same thing you had a thread about before? I'm confused. I agree with wolfgang, though. If you enjoy it, it doesn't feel like research. I also don't enjoy research, but taught myself to program, because I enjoyed it. It's effortless if it is something you enjoy. If you feel like you're swimming upstream, it's probably not what you're supposed to be doing. |
