Right now I'm listening to a business discussion /gloom and doom diagnosis of what's going on. Basically the price of gas (in the USA) is going to shut down the entire economy and make it so you can't afford to even drive to work, etc. etc. etc. etc. From an IM standpoint, how do you take in this information? Do you shut it out of your awareness? Do you look at it as sort of a "dream". Part of me is saying "all things change, the universe is abundant, everything you want is coming to you" which feels pretty good. (I've been feeling really good lately, on purpose). Tune it out? Don't plan for the coming depression/worldwide famine (sarcasm)? Am I introducing something into your awareness that wasn't there? |

First of all, I just want to say that I don't really know how to look at this from the IM standpoint, so I'll just blab about some other stuff. For me, the cost of gas and the state of the economy is forcing me to do something I really didn't before (not in earnest anyway) and that is: evaluate. I am starting to evaluate what's really important to me. I really don't worry about our economy collapsing anymore. It may well happen, but that's okay with me. Because at this point, I feel like everything that happens is perfect, even when it's horrible. I'm not really sure how to describe it. I don't really tune it out, I just don't rely on it for meaning. If tomorrow I ended up homeless on the street, I'd just be thankful for the chance to not be in my office and go about seeing why that experience happened to me (ie what I am supposed to learn from it). I know I can IM money. I've done it. But I still don't really think money is all that important...it's just one other made up thing we've got going in the game. |

I see the good that is coming of it. Nature has a fighting chance. On my trip to the lake (a four hour trip) last weekend I saw way less traffic than usual. We never came to a standstill once! And, I saw canoes and kayaks. So much nicer to the lakes! And, I saw mini campers (teardrops) and less of the "big rigs" (again, friendly for the environment). Things CHANGE. It's a CHANGE. Some businesses will have to close, but some will be created to cater to the new changes. I don't care what anyone says. That's EXCITING!!! |

Well my commute is just over an hour combined each day so gas prices affect me like most people. But even as a I hear people complain about it I do my best to let it just go around me. It's like I know it's high. Complaining doesn't lower the price. Complaining about anything to yourself or your friends, it doesn't fix problems. That doesn't mean you're not aware of the world around you. I do my best to not get emotionally involved in topics that would upset or disturb me, or to dwell on them that much. I'm at the point where that is becoming default. It gets easier. To the point where I have to ask a question like this, ie I'm getting more used to not dwelling on the negative. Used to be my default response. Last edited by cylon; 06-05-2008 at 10:52 PM. |

Perhaps this is the result of the growing desire among the populace for our way of life to change for the better. Of course, as one perspective dissolves and a new point coalesces there is often a temporary state of chaos, where things become reorganized, but we need to have faith that the new and more beneficial point is coming. Its important to remain optimistic about the situation. Remember, optimism is downstream thinking. Don't fight the current, ride it to your destination. Everything you want is down stream. As Abraham would say: Let go of the oars. |

Gas prices - or as we say in the UK, petrol - are a big issue here at the moment. They've sky-rocketted in the past few months. I don't drive for medical reasons but as the family breadwinner I often find myself in the car when we need to fill up. Funny that. Currently the price is 114.9p a litre which is roughly £5.22 or $10.21 a GALLON! |
