Rejecting Money Vs. Generosity

I'd like to send the universe a consistent message about welcoming money into my life so I go through wealth building affirmations and meditations regularly. However, recently I noticed two instances where I rejected money.
The first time a relative offered me some money to let another relative live with us for a few months while a job re-assignment took place.
The second time a neighbor offered me some money after I let him borrow a tool.
I'm a generous person and feel that I have plenty to share. But do these actions confuse the universe?

Yes I believe they do confuse the universe. Remember, when you place your order with the universe you need to let it bring you your wish in the way it best sees fit. You can't order a lottery win, but you can order abundance. If you block the flow of money don't blame the universe if you don't have abundance.

I like what Suze Orman says, "Make room for the mothership of money" it always struck me as funny but true. It's like if you want to buy new shoes but your closet is filled to the brim and you don't have room for new shoes you gotta clear a space for them. I have really found this to be true in my life. Show the universe you've got a place for money all picked out and the stork will drop some on your doorstep

I like what Erin says about the flow of money. I've been thinking about this in regard to the issue of pennies, as I've mentioned a couple times before -- about buying $10.01 worth of gas and how eager the clerks are to grab that extra penny out of the penny cup, because other people have generously left pennies there. Then there also is the matter of whether you pick up a penny on the street or walk by it because it's not worth the trouble, especially if it's dirty. I was reading Stuart Wilde's take on this, and he says he picks up every grubby penny even if he's with people who laugh at him.

Anyway, about flow -- today I was leaving a convenience store when I saw a penny on the asphalt by my car. Then there was a second one. I picked them both up and carried them in the car all morning until later on I had to buy gas. Then I took the pennies and put them in the penny cup by the cash register. That way the money flowed.

So I'm wondering if you could in the future accept the money offered in a situation where you're tempted to decline it, then do something generous with it.

Yes I believe you are confusing the universe with actions that aren't congruent with your intentions.

I have just read a book called "The Go-Giver" that details the 5 Laws of Success.

The Law of Receptivity states that the key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving. If receiving makes you feel uncomfortable you may have a limiting belief around money you are not consciously aware of.

I agree with moonrambler's comment - when receiving money, focus on something generous that will come out of you manifesting your goals because of the money that has flowed to you.

I also had an issue with this. For years it was my "knee jerk response" to refuse money for little things (especially from relatives).

I finally changed this habit and began doing things a bit differently. I think it sends a better signal to take the money and buy yourself something nice with it. THEN...get the person a nice thank you gift to express graditude for their generosity.

I think it cuts off the "flow" when we refuse $$.

I have trouble accepting money from relatives or friends (unless its like a Birthday present or gift) If i want the money to flow how do i break this habbit of having trouble accepting money from other people.
