Just found this. I gladly sign up.

And, ALG I would dearly LOVE if you could post a bigger image, or even just type out your affirmations for doing very well in exams, as that is very much what I'm looking for too.

Thanks for this ALG!

I'm starting this 'do it yourself' experiment and as I am pretty new to the LOA, I'd appreciate if someone could help me with some questions. I know that some things are individual and what works for one person doesn't necessarily have to be the best way for someone else, but I'd like to hear your experience.

First, I printed all advice/ instructions given here, and I decided to start with intending just a good day at work. In order to get to alpha state I chose two methods: counting from 100 to 1 and breathing exercise ( those nine times). I didn't expect to be able to pull it off perfectly the first time ( and I didn't ), my mind kept wandering off, different thoughts kept 'attacking me' but I continued anyway. I'm not worried about that I know it takes practice.

Here's my question, has anyone ever listened to music while trying to get into alpha state? I have some songs that really improve my mood when I feel down, they fill me with energy and positive emotions. So I was wondering if it's necessary to be quiet during the visualization? I thought it would be a good thing to be filled with positive energy during my visualization.
I feel like I can focus better, as paradoxical as it may sound, but I always listened to music while studying for my exams, I just learned better.

Second, I chose 4 areas of my life which I'd like to improve and decided to do my visualization/intention in the morning. I have 20 minutes at my disposal.
How long ( days, months ) do you intend/visualize for the same thing ? Or do you just do it one time and then just let it go?

Thanks

Your experiment will only require 15 - 20 minutes per day, three to five days a week. Many of the exercises can be easily incorporated into your daily routine.

Furthermore the experiment will be designed such that even if LOA is untrue (a view which, of course, I personally reject), you should get some practical benefits out of doing the experiment. For example, you will learn how to do relaxation exercises; gain clarity on your goals; work on your action plans, and so on.

I suggest the methodology and the LOA exercises, but you choose your own intentions and are free to adapt the structure of the experiment to suit your own needs and preferences.

See next post for details on how to participate.
I think I'm going to revisit this tomorrow and join your experiment. I'll start a special blog for it so that I can keep up. It will be at this page under my blogs. Blogger: User Profile: Jeni I'll try to call it personal development challenge blog or something like that.

All the original participants seem to have disappeared. I hope that they are manifesting happily, wherever they might be now.

As for myself, my experiment goes on. I've been consistently recording it since October 2006.

Personally I use that kind of music to disrupt negative thought patterns.

To put it in a more conventional way, music helps me to cheer up.

HOWEVER, for the purposes of formal mind sessions, yes, I do use music - or rather, sounds - to get me to alpha. For example, sounds like Kelly Howell alpha CDs etc

Hi,

This is something i am very curious about (LoA) and will for sure find more to read about it.

For now a few questions:
1. you have been doing the experiment since 2006, have you seen any result of it?
2. Would it also work if i want something for someone else (my husband getting a new job)?
3. How long until you get result, or should you put SMART targets, so including a time line etc?

Are there any books that are as "down to earth" possible about this subject, and preferable do not write from the point of view that God doesn't exist (if they would just ignore God altogether it would be good enough for me). But at the same time, a book that doesn't try and create a cult or something..?
I like to incorporate God in my own way, in my own believes, and get to annoyed when books try to tell me something else...

Tnx a million for the help!

Sandra

Committing too!
I have tried to meditate for years now, on and of. I am going for a holiday by myself so I will do the exercises with total commitment! Thanks ALG

LOL, yes of course. You can plough through my blogs if you like:

I have had success in all areas of my life. I used to discuss many of my successes on this forum, but I don't really do that anymore. I find that people who believe will believe, and those who won't, won't anyway. So whatever.

Actually there are quite a number of LOA books which write from the point of view that God DOES definitely exist.

Two examples:

1. The Moses Code, by James Twyman

2. The Amazing Laws of Cosmic Mind Power, Joseph Murphy (occupation - pastor)

Great, I wanted to get a positive answer to my question, and here it is ( or at least I've interpreted it in such a way, I create my own reality ).

So, LOA works!

Now, on a more serious note, I'll try to find something from this Kelly, and I'll also experiment with songs with words.
Thanks!

Default Intention to get organised

Hello Everyone,

I haven't posted since I started doing this experiment way back when.

My orginal intention has changed. Very recently I realised that the main thing that is holding me back in virtually all areas of my life is my disorganisation. I have thought this before but this time I felt it very strongly and deeply. Although I wasn't doing a conscious intention I very soon had three very interesting coincedences:

1. An indirect message from my boss that I should clean up the office a bit.
2. Notice that the boss would be dropping by from time to time, without warning.
3. A large, unexpected bill.

1 & 2 have forced me to get things more together at work, and 3 has forced me to organise my personnal finances so that I can start to pay it off.

What is interesting to me is that none of these things in themselves are what I would have wished for, however they are all forcing me to look at the key isuse i.e. me beeing disorganised.

After those three I then had coincedence number four which was spotting a recent update to the LOA experiment thread. Prompting by this I am going to rejoin the experiment with my new intention.

I will also adopt a more organised approach to LOA

By the way, if anybody has any good suggestions for advice on how to get organised it would be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone.

I would appreciate it too

And now, I have another question regarding alpha state. What time of the day do usually try to get into it? I've set aside some time in the morning upon waking up or in the evening before going to sleep, I thought it would be best but now I've come to realize it may not be so. At least in my case.
Yesterday before going to sleep, I started counting from 100 to 0, and at 90/80 I lost count and my mind just wandered off, I tried it 4 times and the same thing happened, at one moment I just realized I was not counting Then I just stopped. I felt my thoughts racing and I was too tired to stop them.
I'll try some other techniques as well, but how much time did it take you before you were able to pull it off consistently?

Thanks!

Dear ALG,

I find it very encouraging that you try out the LOA experiment yourself and sharing your experience to so many people and gradually affecting some of them to take up the LOA experiment.

I'm going to restart doing my creative visualisation and try out LOA as well. However, I would need more practice in getting into the alpha mode. This will start tonight, with the counting from 1 to 9 technique that you had mentioned at the start of the experiment.

Just one question to the inner guide thing. Is the inner guide equivalent to the protectors that one supposedly acquire through religious rites?

Haha, Yamizi, I see you've finally made it here.

To find out more about guides, I suggest you poke around this forum a bit, and you will eventually find your way to Erin Pavlina's blog, where you will get all the answers you need.

Thank you ALC

Anyway, I only managed to do a 2 x 5 min of breathing meditation. I did in segments of around 5 min is because I find myself hard to 'stay put' and endedup fidgeting. I knew it was 5 min 'cos I have this small clock before me.

The 2nd session was a really bad one. Having a lot of random flashes of memories. I ended up feeling more tired and sleepy when I came out from my meditation session.
