Default The Law of Attraction or Ask and it is Given?

Hi guys, very quick question - I'm looking at buying either The Law of Attraction or Ask and it is Given by the Esther and Jerry Hicks and they look pretty much the same, so which would you recommend?

Or something else entirely?

Thanks!

Pete

They're pretty similar, but I'm glad I started with AAIIG. I just like the way it's laid out in there.

I'd suggest law of attraction.

If you're just getting into IM, I would suggest The Law of Attraction by Michael Losier (not hte hicks).

I enjoyed Ask And It Is Given very much. It was easy to read and, as a newbie to LoA, I found it very helpful. I definitely recommend it.

Has anyone read The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent: The Art of Allowing? If so, what did you think of that one, in concert with the other books?

I started with AAIIG, then read LOA later and felt like I got more out of AAIIG.

I wouldn't call myself an LOA beginner as such, more an intermediate. I guess I'm looking for something that will provide practical advice about applying it, rather than information about what it is.

Ask and It is Given, then. especially the 22 process in the second half.

There were a number of things I found interesting in Law of Attraction, but mostly small things, like finding that if you want to be a millionaire without puttin in the effort, your belief that it requires effort is the only thing keeping you away from your million bucks and the like.

I wasn't a big fan of the first half of the AAIG, I felt it was a bit too repetitive at times. But that is pretty much teh landmark book on LoA this half century.

Thanks everyone, AAIIG it is then!

I'll probably end up buying LoA anyway eventually.

Thanks,

Pete

Wow! This post was nice to see, because currently i AM in the middle of reading AAIIG...and i am almost halfway through and i am feeling like its rather repetitive and so far it hasn't explained in detail how to do this, just that it CAN be done. So i'm looking forward to getting to the good stuff now! :-) For the record,i DO have The other book,Law of Attraction, and i found it helpful but apparently i must have needed more, since i found myself walking to the checkout with AAIIG lol

Hi everyone,

I bought an audio LOA and it was my intro to the whole thing! I absolutely loved it and so did a couple of my friends. We were inspired and blessed to be able listen to it.

The difference is that the audio version features Ester actually chanelling the Abraham, so you can hear all the intonation nuances and more! It offers so much more than a printed version! Although a word of warning, the material is taken from their workshops done back in the 80s when she wasn't that 'proficient' in chanelling and thu she speaks with a heavy, Russian-like accent. Didn't bother me, but I can imagine some may not like it.

Other audio books are read by Jerry. Not that enjoyable so I think thay are better in print.

I recommend that you buy both.

"The Law of Attraction" answers all the heavy-duty questions that will cross your mind from time to time about LOA. Like, do war victims inflict war on themselves; what happens after we die etc.

"Ask and It is Given" is the practical handbook on applying LOA in your own life. Specifically, the 22 processes in the 2nd half of the book.

In that sense, they are good for somewhat different purposes.

I am curently on the 8th chapter of AAIIG. Really awakening me and I believe I am more than a LOA beginner. I have done vision videos and practiced LOA but one can never gain enough knowledge on any topic. I will pick up 'Law of Attraction' with my Border's 20% discount.

Default The original Law of Attraction

The book that The Secret stole it's ideas from is called The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. It was written 1910, but you would swear that it was written in this decade. You can get all three of his revolutionary books in one binder in a book called "The Science of Success". Barnes and Nobles has bound and published it, and had it for $6.98 in their bargain section.

The Secret author Rhonda Byrnes openly admits to getting her inspiration from this book. I say that she openly stole it,because the book is no longer protected by copyright laws. One key that she fails to leave in The Secret is that action is a crucial part of the Law of Attraction. Putting oneself in situations where success is likely to happen allows things that you've visualized to come to you. In short, the Law of Attraction doesn't work too well from the couch. You must be taking some positive actions towards your visions. Wattles books are by far the most detailed, yet simple, instructions on using the Law of Attraction.

If you google the book or author, you can find a free electronic copy online. I highly suggest that you get the hardback book that I mentioned above and read it regularly.

I have to agree about the taking action to move closer to the things you visualize. Action is always a necessary step, and the Secret did seem to make the law of attraction seem like a very passive tool. I agree with the idea of creating a dream board, to keep your desires in the fore front of your awareness, but ACTION is always necessary to move you toward your goals. Well stated!

Not to complicate things, but...

My all-time fave is "the 7 spiritual laws of success" by Deepak Chopra.

I have AAIIG and the first half I read only if I feel jaded and need some comfort from my non-physical friends. But the 2nd half is awesome--so many wonderful and practical exercises.

Don't know Losier's book, but have heard it's great for beginners. The reason I brought up Chopra's book is because it really puts it in a social context. One of the laws is "the law of giving." It also seems less materialistic than other LOA books. Not that he says wealth is bad, but the point of the book is to GIVE and CONTRIBUTE to society, which is lacking in, say, The Secret (as we all know).
