I was skeptical over whether, what I began to think of was a "coming into consciousness" was a real state of depression, but now that i have let my negative thoughts and emotions come over me, it has become clear. I dont like my life. I am dissatisfied with my friends, with my daily routine, with my social situations, my body and what it can do and my educational experience. I am intrigued by the law of attraction, and understand that my negative thoughts and the negative things that are happening to me, that i am accepting and expecting are manifesting themselves, and creating a feedback loop. i need help to stop this loop. it is hard because i begin trying to manifest good things with a shred of doubt in my mind and, therefore, it doesnt work. also, i dont really know WHAT it is i want. the things i want now are just starters...things that are superficial and i know arent really important to me, but the trouble is i dont know what the truely important things are yet... but maybe some of you can provide me with advice for manifesting some simple things (i call them simple, but to some they are the most important things in life...). I want to be become more satisifed with my university program, to learn more, to manifest better grades and more opportunity educationally. I want a prospect for a romantic relationship with someone i like to manifest. I want to become a better athlete and manifest better race results. i want to manifest more friendships with new people and manifest more people to go out with and experience. but most of all, right now, i want to manifest a positive outlook on life, and break the cycle of the feedback loop that is causing me to tread through my days like a shell of a person. i want to stop feeling dead in side, and something tells me that I-M can help me do that, if i only learn to have faith in the process and learn to manifest things. please give me advice and suggestions. |

IMO it's nearly impossible to get rid of negative thoughts. They are the natural consequence of the human brain. Fear is a built in survival mechanism, that without we would probably be extinct. Sensory stimulus triggers a thought, which is usually attached to some memory, and whether that memory carries a negative emotion or not is beyond our control. Unless we can remain in some Zen like state, I don't see how we can avoid negative thoughts. It's all very well trying to be positive, but we are not machines, and emotions are just too powerful.

Dqueens, First of all, you have my compassion. Maybe a good thing to do, to find the hurricane´s eye, is just connect with things that are good for you. Anything. Listening good music, a walk in the park...you name it. Do this little thing(s) just for doing it, letting the good vibes regenerate your emotional body. Baby steps, if you need...take your time. You need this good ground. Emerge this peaceful place in your consciousness, focus manifesting this balance, then you plan what to do next - and this is where the fun really begins, since you change your perspective about the circunstances. I like the expression "let go your personal history". This means don´t let a determinist view of your own personality arise in your visions about the future. Fell like reborn. Hang out in other places, read new authors, do new things. Find out the things that you really like (this, by itself, is a wonderful adventure). Everything that happens in your life happens in you counciousness, so, circunstances are included in counciousness. Concioussness is bigger than circunstances, always. all my best, L |

Dqueens, I like what leandro.leme has said here. I agree that anything you can do that is in itself healthy and positive and feels good to you is a step in a good direction. Have you considered using intention work in the process here? Do you think you would consider putting an intention together in the direction you want to go? There is a thread about steering away from negative thoughts that might have some helpful things on it. Please don't feel you are alone. The fact that you can just come out with how you feel, I think puts you in a spot where you can not only find "help", inspiration, friendly thoughts and communication, but also give that back to other people. There are others who feel this way and I do find that the adage "what goes around comes around" holds some truth. Please let us know anytime you find anything that makes you feel good and instills hope and good spirits. No kidding, those are valuable things and things others might find useful, too. All my best, Ati Last I think it's a good idea to steer away from anyone giving you negative feedback about stuff right now, unless they are asking for help, accepting of your suggestions and you feel you can do something to be helpful. I do agree that negativity breeds more negativity much of the time, and there's much better stuff around. |

The hard thing in my opinion is that depression is the result of unreleased conflict and LoA only works when conflict is eliminated. I'm speaking from experience, not from formal training. There aren't many good models for overcoming serious depression. Those that there are require you to become aware of the processes that lead to the depressive state. You have to catch the feedback loop before it spirals out of control. Practice noticing the thoughts then press pause. Allow yourself to experience the negative thought fully. Accept, and don't try to change. Then realize that it is something you are experiencing, not something that you are, and let it go. Keep practicing this and it will lead to other realizations, such as recognizing that a particular situation triggers the cycle, or that some issue is at odds with another and that conflict triggers the cycle. This knowledge will allow you to make make changes in the context of your experience to make your life more congruent with your desire for happiness. Yeah, it's really learning how to manifest. |

One thing I'd add, is something pretty similar, although on the other end of the spectrum perhaps. Recognize when things are (even momentarily For example (although depression cannot be simplified to any few individual factors, in my opinion, many factors can be highly contributory--either positively or negatively-- and help the process of learning to improve one's mood)....so has there been a change in exercise, diet, sleep, social activity, engagement in a pleasurable, interesting, or successful activity? Have you been smiling at people and felt your and others' mood lift? Have you been helpful to someone else? And so on. Just a thought, All best, | |
