Default 'You Can Have ANYTHING You Want...'

Hi guys

I've been listening to/reading a lot of manifestation courses and books over the last couple fo years. Obviously, there are things about my life that I want to change for the better, and I'm getting very inspired by a lot of what I'm hearing.

Now, there are things well, one thing in particular - that I want to attract into my life, and it's something that I just haven't been able to have before, and something where I feel really stuck. But I'm plodding on and I'm not going to give up...hence my continued fascination with manifetation.

Well, one of the absolute premises I've read/heard, and Chris Payne, who wrote the Effort Free Life System, actually said this to me, word for word on a phone call, 'Chris...you can have ANYTHING you want'.

The trouble is, I just don't believe it, because all the evidence in my life so far points to NOT having it, and not being able to have it. At the moment it seems impossible, but everything I'm reading, listening to, tells me it is...and logically it makes a lot of sense.

But what if you're stuck; what if you don't believe it? How do you get round this? How have some of the successful folk here got round it?

Is it just a case of wearing it out through attrition? I like Robert Anthony's metaphor of the glass of dirty water. He says that if you pour clean water in to the glas, at some point it will displace all the dirty water.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Wishing you all the realisation of your dreams.

Chris

The way I see it, the LoA works whether you believe in it or not. In your case you don't believe you can attract the stuff you want, and hence that becomes your reality.

I'm by no means an expert, in fact I'm a relative newcomer to all of this myself, but so far these are the things that have really helped me:

1) Since belief isn't necessary for the LoA to work, concentrate instead on watching your thoughts and feelings. Do your best to ignore the negative thoughts and self-limiting beliefs and focus on those that make you feel good.

2) Start meditating for say 15 minutes a day. This is one of those things that you really have to experience to realise just how powerful it is. I find that even a short period of meditation puts me in a great frame of mind where I feel much more open to all this 'spiritual stuff'.

3) Create a vision board - grab a bunch of magazines, cut out pictures that represent all the things you want to attract into your life, pin them to a board, and spend some time each day focusing on it. (I made a digital version which I use as my computer's desktop wallpaper.) Imagine you have already attracted them and do your best to experience the positive FEELINGS that they bring about. I like to combine this with my daily meditation. Again, this process is said to accelerate the LoA process, but even if you don't believe in it, it still puts you in a fantastic frame of mind.

4) Try to surround yourself with people who encourage you and who have similar beliefs to you. For me, in my 'real life', I don't know many people who are into personal development or would give the LoA any serious consideration, which is why I like to hang around on this forum and chat with like-minded people. This brings to mind something I heard a long time ago - that you're the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. So make sure you choose those people wisely!

Hope that helps, I'm sure other people will have their own suggestions to add.

Pete

Perhaps you believe that things can't be that easy?

Let's try another route. Forget all this IM stuff. Do you believe you can achieve anything in life that another person has through non-IM means? Do you believe you can work hard, make the right connections and do essentially anything another perosn with your abilities is able to do? Doesn't matter if the idea of hard work or self-discipline or what have you doesn't appeal to you, do you believe it is possible for you to be able to do all that stuff?

If your answer isn't a confident and instant "yes", then read the next para.

I dunno how long you've been into PD, or whether you got straight into IM or something, so I can't comment on your situation, however I tend to put IM as a relatively advanced topic within PD. So, perhaps you'd like to step back and spend a little time doing just regular PD stuff. Pick up some Brian Tracy stuff (Goals! is good and includes some IM stuff, or Million Dollar Habits), and start feeling empowered. Read a lot of Pavlina's stuff, especially his non-IM stuff, because a lot of that still has IM uses, if you haven't already.

Recentl, I also learned that I like things to be just a little difficult so I can feel validated by achieving something, and because I like puzzles, so I create just enough lack of clarity and cognitive dissonance to have a nice intellectual challenge to beat. If you can make sense fo the following, it might resonate with you?
I want challenges?

I love the shotgun approach, write enough and something'll stick. I hope this helps.

Hmmm .... entire books could be written about that.

But here is a little trick you may want to try. If you cannot believe that you can be, do or have X, then chunk X down into smaller, bite-sized pieces A, B and C, which you do believe are possible, and go for those, one at a time.

When you achieve A, you will have greater capability to believe that you can achieve B .... and when you achieve B, you will have greater capability to believe that you can achieve C ......

..... and eventually it will seem entirely plausible to you that you can achieve X.

I wish to differ on the underlined point taught by Robert Anthony (great teacher) and others.

It is true that eventually if you pour clean water - to follow the metaphor - into a glass tainted by some ink (for e.g.), eventually you will flush out the ink and get a clean glass of water.

But isn't it faster, more efficient and water-saving to just dump the entire glass of tainted water first and then fill up a fresh glass of clean water?

i.e. Clear the doubts and limiting beliefs and mindsets that are holding us back and immediately replacing the 'void' with more positive and constructive conditioning?

I suggest one of the fastest routes to success if you're feeling stuck - get a mentor. I mean, you don't have to pay thousands of dollars for an expert or guru in a field that your pursuing, just someone who somehow manages to do what you seek to do.

Ask him or her how they did it and if they'd be willing to teach you, show you the ropes; and you work out a barter deal with them, maybe do something for them in return - a win-win.
