I would lean a little bit more towards first person, but then again who knows. My advice is to use both. It's better to "over-visualize" than to "under-visualize". Good luck boat. | |

Does first person mean that you dont see yourself? Eg: If I am visualizing talking to someone like in an interview, does first person mean only seeing the person I am talking to? In this case I dont see the person and feel the emotions in my physical body. So third person would be visualizing where in my my mind's eye I also see myself talking to the person. I see my reactions emotions etc. Am I right?? |

I've never thought of this before distinction but something I learned from Tony Robbins might work here. You might want to start by visualizing in the third person. Meaning it feels like you're looking at a "future you" or a "different you" doing something. Like for example being in a room having an interview. However, it's not really YOU, since YOU are looking at your "other" self doing something. Visualize that, almost in 3rd person and then at a certain point STEP INTO yourself, essentially bringing your current self into your future self and feel how it feels to be there. So you may want to watch the interview 3rd person and then STEP INTO yourself at some point and feel how it feels to be there. Perhaps step in right at the moment preceding the "boss" saying "Congratulations, you're hired!" or something. I'm going to try this out next time I meditate. |

I do first person myself, but I usually have much better results if I don't visualize. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but while visualization seems good in the moment, later on I am just more aware that I don't have what I am wanting. So, of course, I continue not to have it. Putting the intention out there and then forgetting about it seems to work best for me. Detaching doesn't enforce the feeling of not having yet. I have been playing around with doing very simple visualizations and then attempting to detach ... we'll see how well that works. |

Thanks for your responses. Paul - interesting technique. I have never thought about that before. Will try it. aabbcc - I am in the same place. I prefer detachment. But I realized that the very idea of putting away visualization could be a negative belief. I have found that though the first time its hard to visualize, the more I practice, I get better - in the sense that I start believing while visualizing. |
