| Read what Max said about Steve Pavlina, and you'll understand why Steve banned him. |

In the past I've favored doing temporary bans for this sort of thing, but that has never seemed to work. For some reason when a member crosses the line into public meltdown, they never go back. Same thing happened with Uplift. It seems to be a pattern that people sabotage their accounts as a way of forcing themselves to move on when they sense it's time. This happens on a lot of other forums too. Seeker5's posts pretty well summed it up, I think: Steve Pavlina: Six Figure Blogging Video

| The mods and I discussed Max using the forum as his personal blog a few months ago. Opinions were mixed. I'd received a few complaints about it, but I was actually in favor of him doing that. He added original content and spawned many discussions. It didn't seem like the best outlet for him personally, but it didn't see that it hurt the forums in any significant way.

Ahhhh at last. This forum is one god down now Wow looking at Max's post his envy at steve is very obvious. Maybe he freaked out because the millions of passive income he intended to manifest were taking too long to come, while steve is making around 40k a month from a home-based blog, which was obviously everything Max would ever want, but his reality manipulation powers appearently weren't strong enough to give him that.

| I don't know what posts got deleted, so I can't give an opinion. I guess there comes a time to move on. Max was always very helpful and I think his posts all came from a genuine desire to learn and to help others. He posts great stuff elsewhere, I'm sure it's for the best. |

| Thanks for the explanation. |

| Deleted what I wrote in this post because I wrongly assumed Jeff Barker got banned. Last edited by seeker5 : 11-19-2007 at 04:43 PM. |

It's obviously Max Power, the style and everything is the same. Does this mean when we get banned for going nuclear, we can just get another login and start as if nothing happened? Last edited by seeker5 : 11-19-2007 at 04:44 PM. |

| Really? It's weird. Here in Canada, I can get my IP changed rather quickly with a quick call to my ISP. I do remember that in the US a lot of ISP's use one shared IP which they proxy to many users so it might not be as easy.

| for the tech savvy an IP address is a very small hurdle, not even a wrinkle. |
| |||
| I think it's actually the IP of your computer (which doesn't change), not your internet connection IP... But still thwartable none the less... Most larger isp's in the US use addresses that change frequently, it costs more for a static ip... |
| |||
| There was a time a poster was kicked off and they moderators wrote (maybe even Steve) that they were able to notice the same ip trying to become a different user. But, yeah, maybe it's not that hard to present a different ip - maybe the MAC address - that would require a new pc. anyway, it would have been interesting to see the posts that Max got banned for. |
