Default What's wrong with my program, has it deleted Max?

Am I the only one missing Max?

no you're not... I thought Max needed a pause again, but I've just seen that God is banned... I hope not forever!

Read what Max said about Steve Pavlina, and you'll understand why Steve banned him.

I think Max had a problem with gurus, but saw him/herself becoming one at the same time and started freaking out. I doubt this is the last of the Power™ though.

I'd be very suprised if Steve banned him over that post. If someone writes a post that results in a ban, that post is deleted in the first place. Otherwise it woudn't make sense to ban if you leave the offending post up. Thus, my guess is Max probably wrote other posts that resulted in a ban.

Don't see this post as a reason to be banned, although it sounds pretty envious and not very polite. Maybe his frequent threads were the reason? He used the forums as his blog.

Nah, it wasn't that post. But shortly thereafter he went on tilt with trolling and personal attacks in a couple different threads (those posts were quickly nuked) and got himself banned. It's never pretty when a senior member self-destructs, but it happens. It even happened to a moderator during the first few months this forum was online.

In the past I've favored doing temporary bans for this sort of thing, but that has never seemed to work. For some reason when a member crosses the line into public meltdown, they never go back. Same thing happened with Uplift. It seems to be a pattern that people sabotage their accounts as a way of forcing themselves to move on when they sense it's time. This happens on a lot of other forums too.

Seeker5's posts pretty well summed it up, I think:

The mods and I discussed Max using the forum as his personal blog a few months ago. Opinions were mixed. I'd received a few complaints about it, but I was actually in favor of him doing that. He added original content and spawned many discussions. It didn't seem like the best outlet for him personally, but it didn't see that it hurt the forums in any significant way.

Ahhhh at last. This forum is one god down now

Wow looking at Max's post his envy at steve is very obvious. Maybe he freaked out because the millions of passive income he intended to manifest were taking too long to come, while steve is making around 40k a month from a home-based blog, which was obviously everything Max would ever want, but his reality manipulation powers appearently weren't strong enough to give him that.

I don't know what posts got deleted, so I can't give an opinion. I guess there comes a time to move on. Max was always very helpful and I think his posts all came from a genuine desire to learn and to help others. He posts great stuff elsewhere, I'm sure it's for the best.

Apparently, only the avatar "Max Power" got banned, not the person behind that nickname.
Welcome back, Max... oops, Jeff Barker.

Deleted what I wrote in this post because I wrongly assumed Jeff Barker got banned.

Whoops, I was wrong. I had seen his posts this morning, and then right before I wrote the above post, I did a search for his name and then looked in the members list and didn't see him so I assumed he had been banned and all posts deleted. I guess I was wrong. I just checked the IM forum and there he is.

It's obviously Max Power, the style and everything is the same. Does this mean when we get banned for going nuclear, we can just get another login and start as if nothing happened?

Now I wonder what those posts were and also wonder why they were deleted - in that they could serve as an example of what this forum doesn't tolerate.

I think the forum is able to kick someone out based on their IP address, so if this new poster is Max Power, he has gone to extraordinary efforts to get back in.

Really? It's weird. Here in Canada, I can get my IP changed rather quickly with a quick call to my ISP. I do remember that in the US a lot of ISP's use one shared IP which they proxy to many users so it might not be as easy.

for the tech savvy an IP address is a very small hurdle, not even a wrinkle.

I think it's actually the IP of your computer (which doesn't change), not your internet connection IP... But still thwartable none the less... Most larger isp's in the US use addresses that change frequently, it costs more for a static ip...

There was a time a poster was kicked off and they moderators wrote (maybe even Steve) that they were able to notice the same ip trying to become a different user. But, yeah, maybe it's not that hard to present a different ip - maybe the MAC address - that would require a new pc. anyway, it would have been interesting to see the posts that Max got banned for.
