Child's post is mighty on-target. Worth a second read.

Your choice in the moment creates. The choice is not made by the mind, but the consciousness. Consciousness also chooses to create the mind and thoughts in the moment, so the mind has no hope of seeing how creation 'works' because it is at the far-side of the whole matter. To use a train analogy - the mind is the caboose rather than the engine.

If you want to use a process or set of steps to manifest something, the mind has already slipped in the back door and is trying to use terms it is familiar with. Consciousness doesn't use steps, or time, or a process to manifest.

'Choice' is 98% unconscious right now. Stop trying to drive the rollercoaster... it's on tracks. Your ability to be in the moment, at ease, and allowing the moment to be as it is, is your best way to receive the manifestation your mind desires, be it love, joy, abundance, passion, adventure, or the unknown. Resistance will show up in your rollercoaster ride. You need to stay open (especially emotionally) and allow space to open for the expression of self.

Dharma, what distinction do you personally draw between "mind" and "consciousness"?

I see the mind as things like logic, time, labels, knowing, processes, and sets of linear steps. Consciousness is that which chooses to create -- the volition behind manifestation (on any dimension of reality - doesn't have to be the physical one).

I just want to add... think of our current state of being as an overcast day. We yearn for sunlight, we desire sunlight, we focus our minds and make the Law of Sunlight or the Secret Sunlight in order to bring the sunlight to us.

The sunlight is already there, but we pretend it's not. A process to create or manage sunlight is not needed. The sun is there. Just like all your desires are already manifest, so is the sun. The process one needs to attend to is clearing the clouds that block the sun and stop creating more clouds.

As far as manifestation goes -- it happens, it's effortless, you don't have to do anything to make it happen. This is what I meant when I said "stop trying to drive the rollercoaster... it's on tracks". Let go of all control and really sink into the moment. You'll get to where you need to go. Wanting to be somewhere different than where you are will bring more clouds into your experience. That's why Buddhists equate desire (wanting) with suffering.

You cannot convince me of that, but I respect your beliefs that work for yourself.
