Here's something practical and pretty simple, especially for people starting out in something. Depending on the type of person you are, it can be really good to hang out with like minded people. Seek them out. As a super simple example, imagine you wanted to go to the shop, to buy apples. You know some people that also want to go to the shop, that are into healthy eating. You also know people that want to go to the beach, and who love junk food. So you get in the beach car, and start driving and arguing about apples and junk food. You are miles off course, and by the end of the day, the shop is shut, you have no apples, and have spent all your being and day doing it. Imagine if you had gotten into the shop car. As ridiculous and obvious as it sounds, heaps of people do just that. Imagine how easy, resistance free it could have been. Imagine wanting to be a champion sprinter, hanging out with people wanting to be marathon runners, people who thought sports sucked, people who love partying, people who keep telling you its impossible, that you are slow, etc, etc, etc. Imagine the totally opposite scenario in terms of focus, resistance, momentum and inspiration. |

Hi Jeremy! I agree with Uplift. Something I have found extremely helpful for myself is to bypass the mind and just do the whatever it is. My resistance lives in my mind, and if I get into the "thinking about it", one of two things generally happen--either I psyche myself out, or I use up the energy that it would have taken to accomplish the thing in internal thought wars. So now, I just do. If the thing that I'm resisting requires a strategy, I will start it and consider next steps as I go along. I hope this is helpful. Peace, emilee

| Stop looking away and outside. Resistance is self created mostly for the sensation of growth. When you overcome resistance, you grow, you learn, you change. You can fight resistance for a lifetime, but it melts away when you stop empowering it with your own energy. Resistance is fear, like all denial. Max |

First, define resistance. In the realm of IM, I consider anything other than complete peace about a topic. That includes doubt, fear, limiting beliefs, trying to control, etc. That doesn't mean you don't have questions, you just don't need to have the feeling of doubt accompanying it. Here are some things that increase your allowing: - Think in the positive. Ask "what do I want?" as opposed to "what do I not want?" Your thread title is a perfect example, what do you not want? Resistance, but since what you place your thought comes to you, what you want is to Allow or to believe or the expect or the accept or to be at peace with. - Hang out with higher energy people (like others have suggested). - Meditate - Visualize - Excersize and proper diet and proper sleep - Let go and trust in the universe, stop trying to control things consciously. Stop trying so hard. Another way that CHorpa puts it is to trust in the wisdom of uncertainty. - I also wrote an entry on this here: Mind-Manual » A Quantum Leap in Intention-Manifestation - Feel good. Feeling good = allowing. Make your feeling good a priority - Practice acceptance and non-judgement. You can read Deepak Chopra's Seven Spiritual Secrets to help with this as well as The Power of Now. This is a really powerful thing for me. - The Sedona Method or The Work or EFT or really anything that helps you deal with feelings and affects and emotions about anything can be helpful. Try to go for a state of peace. - Journalling might help. - Get playful. Don't be so serious all the time, life's supposed to be fun, if not easy. - Read Pavlina's enteries on IM, if you haven't done so already and i suggest reading The Law of Attraction by Michael Losier if you haven't read any particular book on LoA as a good starting point. HTH. |

How to overcome resistance: 1. Buy the latest Abraham Hicks book, "The Astonishing Power of Your Emotions". 2. Flip to the inside back cover, take the CD out of the jacket. 3. Play. Listen. The CD is very much about resistance, and what you should do about it. |

Complete peace about a topic?? Define resistance: Most often something (seemingly) outside of you attempting to stop you from changing. Resistance is always self imposed. Chopra is mostly like all gurus.........trying to sell copy. His 7 laws are 2 ideas covered in fear. Max |

I overlooked the possibility of resistance being a good thing. Sometimes it's on an intuitive/instinctive level, for good reason and this needs to be considered as well. Every state of being has a positive intention, and it is ALWAYS enlightening for me to ask myself this question. "What is the positive intention of .........?" I am incapable of looking at anything from only one perspective. Peace, emilee.

Realize that acceptance doesn't mean you condone what you're accepting. As long as you're resisting what's so, you're powerless to make any difference. You can argue with reality all you want, but where's that going to get you? Oh, yeah....and Practice! |
