Lots, but I throw notable ones in a notepad, so I'll copy and paste a bunch of them hoping you find one useful. Dignity consists not in possessing honors, but in the consciousness that we deserve them. Aristotle Life is not an easy matter…. You cannot live through it without falling into frustration and cynicism unless you have before you a great idea which raises you above personal misery, above weakness, above all kinds of perfidy and baseness. trotsky The depth and strength of a human character are defined by its moral reserves. People reveal themselves completely only when they are thrown out of the customary conditions of their life, for only then do they have to fall back on their reserves. trotsky for a young person can not judge what is allegorical and what is literal; anything that he receives into his mind at that age is likely to become indelible and unalterable; and therefore it is most important that the tales which the young first hear should be models of virtuous thought. plato I don't think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday. lincoln Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking. H. Jackson Brown, Jr A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success. Sir William Osler As I got older, I've learned to listen to people instead of accuse them of things. Unknown A diplomat is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip. Unknown Most men's guiding star is the example of others; that their whole course of life, in great things and small, comes in the end to be mere imitation; and not even in the pettiest matters do they act according to their own judgment. Schopenhauer There is no surer sign of greatness than ignoring hurtful or insulting expression by attributing them without further ado, like countless other errors, to the speaker's lack of knowledge and then merely taking note of them without feeling them. Schopenhauer There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so. Shakespeare Strength in numbers is the delight of the timid. The valiant of spirit glory in fighting alone. Gandhi |

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and found that this is an awesome place to meet like minded people who are so willing to share their experience so that I can learn from. I feel so blessed and thankful to have found fellow brothers and sisters who are on this amazing journey. Here is a quote that I constantly used to remind myself if I am going off-track ... "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not, nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is fill of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." ~ Calvin Coolidge |

I heard Barbara Corcoran speak a few nights ago at a seminar for Women in Business. In case you don't know, she founded the Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage firm in NYC and recently sold it for 66 million. She made two key points: 1) Nobody wants what nobody wants. Everybody wants what everybody wants. She illustrated this with a story about a friend of her mother's who had 7 Jack Russell pups to sell. She made appointments for noon with 25 different people to come see the puppies. When everyone saw everyone else there, they couldn't wait to purchase a pup! 2) Some say hard work gets rewarded. Hard work doesn't get rewarded. In this day and age, bullshit gets rewarded. (That's an exact quote!) She is referring in this point to the media, and how one can use it to get free publicity. |

| Senior Member | Peter Singer If we have learned anything from the liberation movements, we should have learned how difficult it is to be aware of the ways in which we discriminate until they are forcefully pointed out to us. A liberation movement demands an expansion of our moral horizons, so that practices that were previously regarded as natural and inevitable are now seen as intolerable. Mahatma Ghandi The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. Arthur Schopenhauer The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous examples of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality. Jeremy Bentham The question is not, can they reason? nor, can they talk? but can they suffer? Ayn Rand Wealth is the product of man's ability to think. Anon. If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can't buy. George Bernard Shaw Lack of money is the root of all evil. Albert Einstein If you want to know the future, look at the past. Jim Rohn The difference between rich people and poor people is that poor people spend money and then save what's left; rich people save their money and spend what's left. Albert Einstein Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world

A few quotes relating to simple, self-acceptance and being content with what you already have: How simple and frugal a thing is happiness: All that is required to feel that here and now is happiness is a simple frugal heart. (Nikos Kazantzakis) To be content with what we possess is the greatest and most secure of riches. (Cicero) Joy exists only in self acceptance. Seek perfect acceptance, not a perfect life. (Anonymous) The miracle is not to fly in the air or to walk on the water, but to walk on the earth. (Chinese Proverb) He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home. (Von Goethe) |

An old classic - I've always find this speech from Mandela (org. marianne wiliamson) in 1994 very inspiring; "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

On finding peace/contentment within: Come away from the din. Come away to the quiet fields, over which the great sky stretches, and where, between us, and the stars, there lies but silence; and there in the stillness, let us listen to the voice that is speaking within us. (Jerome K. Jerome) Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. (Ralph Waldo Emerson) There is a quietness, a contentment, at the heart of all that is - beneath the noise and bustle, the excitements and the terrors. (Charlotte Gray) Why should we be in such desperate haste to succeed, and in such desperate enterprises? If a man cannot keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears. (Henry David Thoreau) Do not let trifles disturb your tranquility of mind ... life is too precious to be sacrificed for the non-essential and transient. (Grenville Kleiser) Don't hurry, don't worry. You're only here for a short visit. So be sure to stop and smell the flowers. (Walter Hagen). |

And here are some of my favorites: "Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better." - Jim Rohn "It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go." - Jim Rohn "Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination." - Oscar Wilde "There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened." - Douglas Adams "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." - Anaďs Nin

A Few Success Quotes: Flaming enthusiasm, backed by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success. Dale Carnegie You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don't do too many things wrong. Warren Buffett A person is a success if they get up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do. Bob Dylan Actually, I'm an overnight success. But it took twenty years. Monty Hall Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm. Sir Winston Churchill |

This is what I'm working on internalizing. 3 fundamental statements to becoming rich. "There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, and fills the interspaces of the universe." "A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imgaged by the thought." "Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon Formless Substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created." Wallace D. Wattles The Science Of Getting Rich |

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen. Frank Loyd Wright A failure is a man who has blundered, but is not able to cash in on the experience. Elbert Hubbard There is only one success--to be able to spend your life in your own way. Christopher Morley Failures do what is tension relieving, while winners do what is goal achieving.
