Tornadoes and trailer parks

One thing that I've always wondered about is why tornadoes seem to hit trailer parks more often than other areas. Although there's no scientific reason why it should be that way, it most certainly is (see http://www.frankwu.com/tornado.html). Another curious phenomenon that the page talks about is that the number of tornados has gone up with the sales of camcorders, as though the tornadoes are posing for pictures.

Well, I think intention/manifestation may have given me a framework with which to explain this weirdness. It makes sense to me that people in depressed areas such as trailer parks, where poverty, alcoholism, drug addiction and crime are high, would be in depressed states of mind and thereby attract negative influences into their life. Perhaps when large numbers of people are constantly thinking negative thoughts in unison and are in the same place, the negative energy is synergistic and creates negative occurances on a large scale, such as natural disasters. And then you get things like this: Tornado kills at least*5 in North Carolina - CNN.com.

This makes more sense to me than any other explanation I've come across, anyone else have any thoughts on the subject?

The page you link to makes the point that the exercise just shows that you can make all sorts of things correlate statistically without it having much meaning.

Apart from that, there's also these possibilities:

1. More tornadoes form in flat regions, which are also more conducive to trailer parks.

2. Large buildings might act as windbreaks, reducing the incidence of tornadoes.

3. Poor people live in trailer parks, and poor people live in areas imperilled by extreme weather. (See New Orleans.) One of the things rich people do with their money, in general, and parts of the San Andreas fault perhaps excepted, is to move away from places where their livelihood is at risk of extreme weather.

(This is all assuming that the original correlation is based on exhaustive satellite data. If it's based on reported tornadoes, well, obviously, people in trailer homes are going to notice tornadoes a lot more than people in solid buildings.)
