| Hi I am new to this forum as well as the LOA... After reading the links that Zukin gave me, I began to understand more. It's kinda like Jedi Talk from Star Wars.... maybe Mr. Lucas knew of the Secret?..... No wonder he's famous. I see a part about two opposite feelings clashing and cancelling out each other. Take me for example. I have been wanting to lose the fats as you know fats can kill in the long run and I am only 21 yrs old and already joining my grandpa in the same league.... And he died because of that. I have recently become aware that there might be a thought that cancels out my thoughts on I want to be thin and healthy again to summarised it... and writing out on my Blog... lair888.blogspot.com There are times where I passed out on exhaustion in med bay and say I will always be fat.... subconciously... when I should be saying I want to be thin and healthy. Sitting down and doing nothing is not the way right? Actually are the actions I am taking are not hindering the process? |

| What advantage is there to being fat? Or what is being fat a consequence of? Root out subconscious beliefs and fears. Is your family fat (other than your grandfather?) would you be different? Are you afraid of that? Those sorta things, there's a Pavlina article on thgat, too.

You must be the one to pursue the answer (the answer should come to you externally, but it starts from with-in), Ya see, I can tell you my answer or perspectives, but they may clash with what you're thinking or believing. But, by you asking yourself those questions you will lead yourself to the answer... So how do I ask myself...? (you might say) What I do is in my mind I just ask... For example: (this is in my mind) Hum, I wonder if I can loose weight just by thinking about being thinner...? The key for me is to try and forget (sort of) you asked the question, ya see, by forgetting you asked you don't give the conflicting thoughts time to cancel out the original thought. Then something amazing happens... it comes into my reality... Let me tell you a short story... The other day, I got to thinking about getting into a hobby that involves scanning the skies using a c-band satellite (remember those old satellite dishes that folks had in their back yards that were huge). anyway, i got to thinking that it might be something I'd like to do for fun. So last week I was out moving the lawn and my neighbor (who's like 85) two doors down has a huge dish in her back yard, it looks older and unused, I got to thinking about my hobby again, and the thought was "Huh, There is a dish, it looks unused, this hobby seems like it might be fun"... Then I forgot all about it. Well, the other day I went with a friend of mine to go get some chicken for the football game that was on the following day, we we're kind of just talking about this and that, nothing to important, then the weirdest thing he turns to me and says, "ya know, I was out the other day and saw an old dish in someones yard that had a sign on it that said just take me (like they just want to get rid of it). I'm thinking "hey cool, a free dish to start my hobby"... My story is to illustrate a point, a point about the connection between yourself and the seemingly separate part of reality of things like tomorrow or your weight or your love life or what ever... Those seemingly separate things are not really separate from you, the idea is to strengthen the connection and understanding that it's all a product of YOU... Make sense..? I can't really explain more than that because nobody can just tell you... You have to see "IT" for yourself... Another thing is, Can you "see" yourself (in your mind) being your ideal weight, most professional athletes visualize them selves doing or being what they want (for golfers - that perfect shot, for weight lifters - huge biceps, etc...) This may take allot of practice but eventually you'll form a complete picture in your mind of what you will weigh. I think this is a step that is often overlooked...

| Ok another questions on opposite... I re watched the Secret again but then I got some questions... How can an anti-war movement create more war when it's opposite.....? So now if I want to acheive something I have to think of the positive aspects if its negative..... ? I am confused... So if I want to lose fats to safeguard my future health[start now than later is best.] so how should I ask? I know the question...."I don't want..." can give adverse results.... and will definitely kill me as it did with my grandpa. According to the speaker they went on the line that says... if you are anti-war be pro-peace... something like that. Last edited by Creator : 10-07-2007 at 06:54 AM. |

If you know what you don't want, and you know the results of doing that... Find the true opposite of what you don't want and focus your thoughts on that... The idea being that you're not trying to lose fats (as you put it) you're trying to be thin and healthy, focus on being thin and healthy.

| Creator, the point is: if you don't want war, and focus on being anti-war, you'll still think of war all the time, thus attract more war. If you don't want war, focus on peace. I you don't want to be fat, don't ever think of fat. Think of being healthy. If you're interested in knowing how I'm doing it and what I think about taking actions vs. sitting around, you can read this thread. (I'm lazy now |

| This is just theory for me, but it works! I've tried it out a few times with positive results. If you have it phrased as something you don't want, the first thing you do is work out if you didn't have that, what you would have. ie: no fat = healthy. You end up with a positive desire rather than a negative attention. Taking the opposite doesn't work always, you might want something totally different instead, and when you ask yourself what you would have if you didn't have the negative, that's when the positive appears. ie: If you take "I wish I wasn't broke" and imagine what it would be like if you weren't broke, then realised all you want the money for is to travel and do more stuff, then the intention would be "I want to experience more of the world." instead of "I want more money." Secondly, you take the "I want" and bring it into the present. ie: "I want to be healthy." to "I am getting healthier all the time." Very straightforward. This allows your mind to focus on something that's happening right now, making it real and alive. Then you focus on that intention, as much as you can as appropriate. Set reminders to do it in the morning, and any time it comes up, or even if the negative side comes up, refocus on the intention. ie: If you notice that you are fat think: "Yeah, I'm fat, and I'm getting healthier all the time." It will shape your thoughts and actions in line with it and it will come true. |

for instance, you cannot stop thinking in negative terms about your body - so each time you catch yourself thinking about being fat, you repeat several times, yes - I remember when I was fat, but now I'm getting healthier (thinner, trimmer, skinny). This puts it in the past allowing you to focus on your desire now (health). this works for any recurring negative thoughts, eventually it will become second nature to usher the negatives into the past and let them go - and stay focused on now thinking. |
