Sometimes this forum gets too theoretical and airy-fairy. People end up tripping all over their own big abstract nouns. So I have decided to write a series of short, concrete posts about things you can actually do with LOA in your everday life; how you can actually apply it etc. Welcome to "Practical LOA by ALG". Naturally you don't have to believe everything I say. And you probably shouldn't. The frequency of your brainwaves is constantly fluctuating. LOA works best when the frequency reduces, to a level known as "alpha" or "deep alpha". You can reach these states through processes such as meditation, deep prayer, or self-hypnosis. When you fall asleep, your brainwave frequency will also fall to the alpha / deep alpha levels. The first problem is that not everyone knows how to meditate, pray deeply, or self-hypnotise. The second problem is that when you're asleep, it will not quite be possible to do your intention-manifestations. ALG's Sleep Trick is to simply do your intention-manifestations when you've gone to bed, and are waiting to fall asleep. Keep focusing your positive thought on your intention (eg "I pass my exams ... My exams are easy ... I know I will do well ...") until you fall asleep. This is so that as you enter into alpha / deep alpha in sleep, the last conscious thoughts lingering on your mind are related to your intention. And so they will manifest. This is somewhat related to the old idea of "sleeping on it". Except that the "sleeping on it" technique is generally meant to give you the idea to solve a problem, as opposed to manifesting events, opportunities and resources. Thank you for reading "Practical LOA by ALG". |

Thank you for writing it! I think you're right, it is very easy and rewarding to make requests as you're falling asleep -- maybe, too, because in that sleepy fuzzy state, your defenses drop and you're more welcoming to unfamiliar influences. Tonight I'm going to dream about: "how can I get ALG to appreciate my big abstract nouns?" |

And when you wake up, see if your mind has left you any clues for what to do in the "real world" This paragraph comes from the book "Insights from the Journey" by business owner and recruiter John Lucht: Quote:

I've always done this. I probably manifest the most when i'm falling asleep. Honestly, i thought one of the first thing people thought when they get to LoA was to do that. You're there in bed anyway, might as well do something productive right? (And, well, i do sometimes take quite a bit of time to fall asleep, so there.) Nah, i'm pretty sure this realization happens automatically right? When you start to realize the importance of thinking positive thoughts, you will no longer think such things in bed. I clearly remember thinking pointless negative stuff in bed before i knew the importance of thoughts. On a side note, you often get interesting dreams when you do this! |

| Funny that this should come up. For me personally, as I've tried to focus on my intentions before I go to sleep, I found that my sleep patterns over the last couple of weeks have been very, very disrupted. In the last two or so weeks, I've only got about 3 decent night's sleep. Not sure if this is something that's to be expected or not...

I wonder if it would help you to actually write down your stressful concerns right before bed, and ask that The Universe (or whatever you believe in) will handle those concerns for you while you sleep. That way you can let go of the burden and allow your body to act naturally -- deep, refreshing sleep. I find my sleep is best when I can put down all my thoughts for awhile. They weigh so much! |

That's a good suggestion. I tend to fall asleep thinking about my concerns, which seems to be counter-productive. It's like I can't rest as long as there's some unresolved issue in my life, but as I learn to trust, and just let the universe handle this stuff, maybe my mind will know it doesn't have to work 24/7 to fix stuff. Resistance. |

THis is an actual technique I read in a little book I borrewed from a library. THe name of the book I don't know as I haven't been able to ever find it again. But here is how it works: Step 1> Lie down in bed or on a comfy couch where you will not be interrupted. Close your eyes. Step 2> Count down from 50 to 1. Think of the number 50, and imagine what it looks like. Count 49 in your head and imagine the number 49. Count 48 and imagine the number 48. Count 47 and imagine the number 47. All the way down to 1. It is normal for other thoughts to try to come in, don't worry about them, don't try to stop them, instead keep focusing on the next number going down. Step 3> Once you reach 1, count Zero, shift your eyes (still closed) to look up if you had them open and think to yourself "I am now speaking directly to my subconcsious mind, and it is now directly talking to the superconscious mind." Step 4> State your intentions, such as "Subconscious, I want you to attract $10,000 in income to me. Go ahead and talk to whoever you need to in the superconscious net and talk to their subconscious and tell them that I am willing to bring value in their lives to receive the $10,000 I will get from them. I don't care who you talk to, if it's one person or multiple people, just go and do it now. Ok, thanks subconscious. Now as I go about my days I want you to point out, rather obviously, the opportunities, people I need to talk to, action steps I need to take, thoughts I need to have to bring that $10,000 to me." Step 5> Count up from 0 to 5 and open your eyes. THat's it. Done. You can go to sleep now, or whatever you want. Just let it go and let it be. When I first read this I never knew about LoA or anything. THe thing seemed completely rediculous to me, but since it could be done all in the privacy of my own head I tried it and didn't tell anyone else what I was doing because I thought they would laugh at me. This is a technique I first learned in 1999 that allowed me to attract the perfect job I was looking for in 1 day, sending out 1 RESUME ONLY, being hired by the PERFECT boss I needed at that time and getting a PROMOTION my first day of work there. I've done many other things with it like manifesting a BMW to drive, houses, $$$ etc. Last edited by impaul99; 09-29-2007 at 12:28 AM. |

| I'll also tell you the hardest thing about the technique. I told my brother about it and he tried it for about a week. Fell asleep every night before he got to 0, ROFL. I've done that a bunch of times too Sometimes I'll specifically go lie on the couch to do it so that I don't fall asleep. Sure enough next thing I know it's 4:30am and I'm sleeping in the living room on the couch, LOL. Besides that "side effect", it's great. |

Hi Paul, That technique sounds similar to the Silva method: Quote:

Ahem, I am a Silva graduate. After a while though, you realise you can mix & match all these different things - Silva Method, Abraham's processes, creative visualisation, Napoleon Hill's counselors etc etc. Nevertheless I prefer a more intuitive approach. There are some key principles; the rest you can figure out along the way. Each time. |

You would like it, I think. Especially since you have a newfound interest in psychic powers. Attending the course is different from reading the book though, because in the actual course, the instructor uses group hypnosis on the participants .... Kinda hard to do it on your own.

Hey this technique you described, is very similar to the Theta-healing technique I learnt at a workshop earlier this year. Since then I've done intention-manifestation in theta each time, and they happen in record time. My husband to-be turned up a week or so later and we were married 4 months later, my income improved. Everything I ask for in theta happens. It's great. But I did a weekend workshop, and your description is almost the same. Different visualisations but I can see the pattern's the same. Much love Hazel |

Paul, I tried it last night... and yes, it was hard not to fall asleep while counting down! I kept losing track....40, 39, 28,27,26... oh oh! I asked for: please tell me the next right thing to do (in an area I've been feeling stopped - creative expression). I dreamed that I was getting a makeover and taking care of a beautiful little bird that was being neglected. Also I was given the task of climbing a sheer wall and got too afraid when I was close to the top, and a gorgeous man put his arms around me and jumped off! but when we reached the ground, our feet just softly landed and there was no problem. He smiled at me and said, "want to try again?" It was the perfect dream, and the perfect answer. Thanks for the tip! |

I tried this last night as well. Stayed on track with the numbers pretty well although I had to remind myself to visualize the number as well as count it. When I got to 17, I started to drift off. Don't know how long I was slipping away but managed to pull myself back to 16 and continued on. I don't remember counting any lower than 5 though. Must have gone clear out at that point. Also, I didn't have very clear dream recall this morning other than a snippet of an old woman leaning in with her hand cupped around her mouth and shouting into my ear, "One-three-three-one," and then sitting back, nodding and smiling at me as if in affirmation. I woke up with a visual of 1331 in my head. ps - Angela's jumping off walls with a gorgeous man and I have an old lady yelling at me??? |

I tried this method too. Counting till 0 was no problem, but then I fell asleep before I could intend anything else than "I want to be happy". I had a nice dream however, I saw myself as a gorgeous bellydancer, in full costume, doing amazing things with my hips So I start a bellydance class on monday ALG thanks for the hint. You're right, everything I intended in an alpha-state manifested. I'll do it again, why did I stop?? | |

LOL, your experiences put a smile on my face. I'll add a few things: 1) After doing this for a while I grew suspicious that during the times when I thought I "fell asleep" before doing this properly I actually didn't fall alseep, I simply didn't remember completing the process the next morning since as soon as you say "I am now speaking directly to my subconscious mind..." it kind of automatically turns off your conscious memory recorder. I have experimented a bit and I did still attract the intentions I went in to attract so I think at least SOME of the time, even if you think you didn't get down to 0, you actually do get there it's just that prior to 0 your memory stops recording. 2) If you like getting "hints" as to what you want to do next in dreams, then ask for that. However, that is not the only realm available to you. For example, you can ask specifically for guidance in THIS reality, and the perfect book, coach, teacher, TV Show, forum post, or whatever will reveal itself. In fact I dont' really ask for guidance in dreams anymore because it's too unpredictable whether I'll remember the dream or not, or if it will be colored with other crazy stuff that doesn't mean anything. So just be aware that you don't have to ask for guidance in dreams. You can simply ask for it in your "awake" state. 3) One thing you can try is create a little test for yourself. Like intend to manifest guidance on something specific and only use this technique for it. See how long it takes to attract it. FOr me it was pretty quick. It is also how I learned the importance of being specific. ie. I asked for a BMW and I got one, but it wasn't brand new. Doh! Final piece of advice. If nothing else...this is a really good technique on how to fall asleep |

Yes - They say the brainwaves in theta are slower than alpha. It was called Orion Theta healing developed by an American woman, Vianna Stibal. A lady down the road from me teaches it. It's good, but you'd need a weekend workshop at least, to get the hang of it. This sleep trick seems just about the same, and if it works it must be v similar! Aim for the NEW BMW!! Much love Hazel |
