Default Where Is Your Focus?

Hello Friends,

Hope all is well. Todays quote is pretty straight forward and is the mindset that everyone should have if they want to be successful.

"Focus on what you want, rather than what you don't want."

This quote was said in the movie "The Secret" and is one that should be a common thought in all of us. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer is really a true statement. People who are rich stay rich because that is all they are thinking about. It is their intention. They do everything that it takes to stay at the comfort level that the are used to.

It doesn't matter how a person gets his money. They have it because they are driven. For example, someone who is a ganster does bad things to stay rich. They are motivated by their lifestyle, so they think of anyway they can get more money even if it is illegal. On the other side you have people who are rich and they use their money to help other people. This individuals motivation is heliping people, so they work hard to stay rich so that they continue giving.

The person who is poor tends to think about how poor they are. They focus on their bills, their bad health, their bad relationships. If this is all you are thinking about that is what you will continue to get. The bills can become so overwhelming sometimes we just do nothing. Not acting does nothing to improve your situation. In order to change you must start thinking positively.

Start by being thankful for what you already have. When you are in this mentality it is easy to focus on how you are going to your intentions into manifestations. It is a process. It's hard to change your routine but if you work at it you can take control of your life.

Feel free to tell me what you think this quote means, "In Your Own Words."

Thanks for Listening.

A good friend of mine once said, in a moment of insight, "What you focus on determines what you miss."

Mind you, he had already enjoyed a couple of double-scotches by that point...

It's so weird (sort of, it happens allot) that you made this post... You see like two days ago I got to thinking about focus. The thought was in reference to the LOA, meaning if LOA is always working (whether your aware of it or not), then what it boils down to is focus... Like you said.

I also think there's a level of feeling involved to bring about the opportunities or situations that help you to achieve your goal. Using your example above, A gangster (as you put it) thinks like a gangster, feels like a gangster and acts like a gangster... Thus, attracting gangster elements into their life (whether they're aware of it or not). Without even realizing that their the cause of this, they may say "oh, that's just my life or thats just the way I am".
Thus, acting on those gangster elements and the cycle continues.

Now, where the power comes in is in the ability to understand this and make the necessary changes to live the life you dream of... Which as you suggest requires focus (along with sustained and consecutive thought).

A quote from (The science of getting rich): Chapter 4
Quote:
Every man has the natural and inherent power to think what he wants to think, but it requires far more effort to do so than it does to think the thoughts which are suggested by appearances. To think according to appearance is easy; to think truth regardless of appearances is laborious, and requires the expenditure of more power than any other work man is called upon to perform.

There is no labor from which most people shrink as they do from that of sustained and consecutive thought; it is the hardest work in the world. This is especially true when truth is contrary to appearances. Every appearance in the visible world tends to produce a corresponding form in the mind which observes it; and this can only be prevented by holding the thought of the TRUTH.

This power can only be acquired by getting hold of the basic fact which is behind all appearances; and that fact is that there is one Thinking Substance, from which and by which all things are made.

Then we must grasp the truth that every thought held in this substance becomes a form, and that man can so impress his thoughts upon it as to cause them to take form and become visible things.

When we realize this, we lose all doubt and fear, for we know that we can create what we want to create; we can get what we want to have, and can become what we want to be.
So, now I'd like to share an experience with you regarding focus (I've shared this before). One night I was sitting at my computer, it was really late maybe 3 in the morning. Often times when I'm programming I get into this very focused state, concentrating intensely. Then my mind wondered and got stuck on the question of "should I proceed with this CD project i was contemplating doing", I was deeply focused on this question (for like maybe 2-3 minutes), I relate this to being in "the zone". Anyway, something broke my concentration and I had to use the bathroom. At the time I was living in an apartment and on the way to the bathroom I had to pass the front door. O.K. so here's the weird part, something caught me eye under the door. Stuck under the door is a CD (no case just a scratched up cd) by Guns and Roses titled "use your illusion"... Now, I could say "oh, that's just a coincidence" but, I know better than that

My point being, That at a certain level I believe that reality can be changed or altered by using only the mind. But, it will happen in such a way as to not totally freak you out. Meaning if that CD would have appeared on my desk out of thin air, that would have freaked me out. But, under my front door leaves me room to justify it. Allowing me to think that someone put it there as a prank or something, justifying the experience... Even though it just appeared into my reality "from nowhere"...

Another quote from (The science of getting rich): Chapter 4
Quote:
When man has a thought-form, he takes material from the forms of nature, and makes an image of the form which is in his mind. He has, so far, made little or no effort to co-operate with Formless Intelligence; to work "with the Father." He has not dreamed that he can "do what he seeth the Father doing." Man reshapes and modifies existing forms by manual labor; he has given no attention to the question whether he may not produce things from Formless Substance by communicating his thoughts to it.
Thanks for this thread and for listening...

Lil Chris you just hit the nail on the head. There is always a way to justify the wierd things that happen to us but to the individual it is always clear that it is more than just random coincidence.

Quotequy - I really like your quote. I have a sign on my office wall in big letters:"FOCUS". When I look up from my desk it's the first thing I see.The LoA is all about focus. Keep on quoting.

It's so weird... i watched the Secret for the first time about 5 days ago.

As i was watching it, i just thought... this is cheesy rubbish.

But i tried it and so far so good.

I want to do something with music production... so i started to focus on it.. and someone immediatley got in touch who could really help me to learn.

It may be coincidence, it may be the secret...

I will definitely be focussing a lot more on what i want though.

My usual advice - keep a blog/journal/diary of your intentions. And keep a blog/journal/diary of actual events of your life.

And watch the coincidences pile up ......

It's a kind of magic ....

You know, that's really a good point! What you focus on determines what you miss. That's why it bothers me a little when people narrow the focus of their intention down to a specific, little tiny possibility, and prevent themselves from hitting a broader, richer possibility that they are eliminating by being so focused on specifics. I think people also miss the mark when they focus on material manifestation of a deeper desire, rather than taking the time to determine the quality or condition that they would have in their life if they had that *thing* and which the thing is only a meager signpost.

Tell your friend I think he's brilliant!

You're irresistable to women anyway. Plus you're so cute when you're snoring.

Both approaches work for me. Sometimes, I know exactly what I want to focus on. Take a simplistic example. I want my palm trees to be awesome. To just be awesome. So thats the picture. Then the perfect requirements needed start appearing.

Another time, I might want to, say, find an investment, but am not sure where or what. I know how I want to feel, what the outcome will mean, in an infinite number of ways, limited only by my imagination. So I picture that, focus on that, and look forward to suprises. It might even happen outside of the initial thought of an investment.

I spend time also just focusing on oneness, on choosing and allowing, totally trusting and letting go to the perfection and equality and infinite potential of oneness. Realising that by recognising and choosing it, that by doing it, I actually am it, and am experiencing my truth. Seeing every moment, thought, creation, every feeling, every instant, cell, whatever, saturated in it, in choosing to allow my true nature.

Then I just (try to ) relax and let it happen.

But after a long learning and experiencing process, meditation on oneness, the true permanent underlying condition, always takes priority for me. I sort of sense its all that really matters. I think some people really know and sense that fully, without much or any effort...like people that are naturals at other things.

Maybe your drunk friend was focusing on an ex-girlfriend he missed when he said that.

I've always found that whatever you focus on you attract and it grows.

If you focus on money, you make more money.

if you focus on paying off debts, you have more debts.

If you focus on growing your net worth, it grows.

If you focus on shrinking your debt load, it grows.

If you focus on your kids, they grow.

I dunno, it just seems to work that way.

Here's a tip. You can send me a $100 donation after you get out of debt with it.

Make note of your debt total, and put systems in place so that you're not getting into further debt. Then forget about it. Get it out of your consciousness. Don't talk about getting out of debt, don't talk about your debt, don't worry about it, don't concern yourself with it. Set it up so that you can forget about it without it hurting you. ie. If your minimum payment is $100 on the credit cards, just setup an automatic payment for that amount. Don't open your bills and focus on the total debt.

NEXT, focus on building wealth, increasing your income, making money, growing your net worth etc. That's what I did. I had a $12,00 debt at one point in my life AFTER I sold all my assets and I had credits chasing me and threatening me with legal action, bankruptcy etc. I tried getting out of debt for a long time and it didn't work.

Then I focused on just becoming a millionaire. My thinking was this "I can spend the next 5 years trying to get out of debt, and maybe I'll succeed or maybe I won't. If I do succeed, I'll have a net worth of $0. Woooopeee! OR I can focus on becoming a millionaire in the next 5 years and forget about getting out of debt first. If I succeed, I'll be a millionaire with a $12k debt. I can just pay it off."

Make sense?

Smile Reply to the quote: "Focus on what you want...

"Focus on what you want, rather than what you don't want."

I really believe this is working for me more and more. What I have noticed is that I am not that interested in trying to control the outcome of anything or how another should or shouldn't behave. In the past that meant there was a lot more focus on what I didn't want which going with the Law of Attraction brought to me even more of what I didn't want, usually in feelings of negativity where there was a lot of devaluing and catastrophic thinking.
