[This thread is part of 30 Days to Success with Ask and It Is Given] The phrase "wouldn't it be nice if..." is a good way to get yourself thinking about your goals and start manifesting them in your life. Periodically throughout the day, you can think to yourself things like: Wouldn't it be nice if money came to me easily and frequently Wouldn't it be nice if I was making out with an attractive and kind woman Wouldn't it be nice if I felt happy all the time |

I love this one too! For obsessed people having problems with detachment, like me, "I want it. I want it. I want it!!! why isn't it manifesting already?? will it manifest? what should I do? come on... I want it!" ... this is a playful and light alternative |

It also allows you to try on some goals and intentions, and see how they fit. Mine today is "Wouldn't it be nice if I was able to get some of my songs covered by famous pop stars, and make some big bucks off my music?"

I was wondering ... is this meant to be an intention? The phrase seems to imply wishing for something you do not already have. This confuses me, because when putting forth an intention, you want to state it as something that already exists. Am I looking at this the wrong way? |

aabbcc: this is an intention... One very important point in the Abraham-Hicks teaching is that you should focus on what you want, and NOT on the lack of it (or you will attract more of the lack...). Unfortunately, for some people (including me), it's difficult not to focus on the lack when intending in present form. When I state something in the present, I'll immediately be aware of the fact that it is not true now. Consequence of this is that I will focus on the lack of my goal. Example I want to live with a dog, but I'm totally broke at the moment so I cannot afford it. If I think "I have a dog, I have a dog.." I will automatically think "no I have not..." at the same time, and focus on the lack of dog! To resolve this problem Steve gave the advice to focus on the present moment and intend the current slope of the curve between now and your goal to increase. That's a great idea! For my part I prefer to think about it in terms of probability: "the probability that I have a dog is increasing permanently right now..." Because that is true and it is now! So I stay in the present and I don't get any negative thoughts. This method of "wouldn't it be nice" is another solution to this problem. Instead of saying "I have a dog" or "I want to have a dog" (which would raise contradictory thoughts and block the manifestation) we say "wouldn't it be nice if I had a dog?". Saying this I have no reason not to agree with this thought => no negative thoughts => no focus on lack => manifestation And I think such a question can be a very powerful intention. No need to use a hammer "I have a dog I have a dog I have a dog"... If you put a lot of positive emotion in this question and concretely imagine how nice it would be indeed, maybe visualizing it and feeling how it would feel like... it's enough intention to manifest. But if intending in present form already works for you, that's great! You're lucky! Don't worry about all this then! I don't know if what I said is right. Others, please correct me Last edited by Rose of Cairo; 09-12-2007 at 10:03 PM.

I think that the power in this exercise, as Rose said, is that when you think about how nice it would be, this brings the emotion to the present moment and if you don't fall into the trap of thinking something like "Yeah, would be nice, but I don't have it yet" right after doing the exercise and instead simply release it, then by feeling in the present moment what it will feel like when your intention manifests you're activating the attraction. The wording might be in the future, but the feelings are very much in the present. Words don't matter so much if the feeling is right, the only reason why words are important is because they make us feel a certain way and this question, albeit using future tense, evokes good feelings in the present. Besides, asking yourself "Wouldn't it be nice?" makes you open yourself to the possibility, you're not trying to force yourself to believe in what's not there yet, but instead you're simply allowing the feeling of possibility. Simple, elegant, powerful. Genius! |
