In desparate to lose weight to look attractive. I bought amino acids supplements for a month supply. I'm taking 3 huge tablets 3 times a day with meal. Today, I started taking the tabs and I feel a little dizzy. Anyone know if these stuff really works? It shouldnt have side effects should it? Does excess protein in your body damage the kidney?? It takes a long time to gain weight - thus, it's a good idea to take extra pounds off slowly. Any extreme method which deprives the body of essential nutrients is a bad idea! I found a great free site for help in obtaining healthy weight loss. It's Sparkpeople.com. You can get exercise programs, diet analysis, and track calories, and nutriets on a daily basis. I'm sure Steve Pavlina would approve of this site as it has the same aim as he does: to promote healthy grow in mind and body. cheers, Maureen |

From what I have read, amino acids help to metabolise protein and help turn fats in the muscles into fatty acids for the muscle to use for energy. Taking these supplements in conjunction with a well planned workout routine will help to tone your body and the amino acids will help you workout that little longer/harder and recover a little quicker. As far as weight loss goes, these supplements, with the workout, will help build muscle. Muscle burns fat. So in an indirect way they will help but you may be better off spending the money on consulting a personal trainer at least once rather than paying for these supplements. As far as the protein and kidney question, I have read some experts say high protein diets can damage your kidneys and other experts say that the doses recommended by supplement companies are not harmful. If you are worried about the protein, drop the supplement and switch out some of the foods in your diet to foods that are high in protein such as eggs, tuna, chicken, turkey, beef... |

Why do you need a supplement for protein? isnt it a nutrient that can be found abundantly in nature ? btw, Protein can only be utilized effectively when EFAs are present. Beware of what you're putting in your body and dont get youself hurt by unnecessary supplement. The Fatty Acid-Protein Connection Quote:
