Default Potential Biphasic Sleeper

I would like to start using a Biphasic cycle for numerous reasons. Two being, I like staying up late but am required to wake up early. Another being I feel that Im wasting a lot of time sleeping 8+ hours a day. I've read that Caffeine may effect your results, so things like soda, coffee, or energy drinks would have to be eliminated?

My question is, is there anything I should know to begin sleeping this way? Any suggestions for starting?

things I have learned so far.

spend some time working out when you are going to nap and sleep. I sat down and drew a circle representing 24 hours and made little cutouts representing the time window for my nap and my sleep, marked out when i couldn't sleep and then fitted my nap and sleep as far apart as possible. I generally nap 8:30ish to 10pm but the start time for the nap varies from 8pm to 10pm.
I don't drink coffee after 3pm.
If my nap and sleep are any closer than 2 hours, it's not worth waking up for me.
The most difficult thing I find is nailing the nap. Sometimes I find it difficult falling asleep quickly for my nap. I need to choose between laying there until i fall asleep (wasting time), just setting the wakeup time regardless (not getting the 90 minutes) or getting up until i feel tired again (bringing the nap and core sleep closer together).
But that's only an issue when the schedule goes out of whack and doesn't take long to right itself again.
perhaps institute a pre bed time routine, I haven't done this but someone else here suggested it.

I'd recommend to build a combination of two habits:
- early rising (4-5am), that would give you plenty of free time
- afternoon nap (1-2 hours) to compensate for shorter night sleep. This will also let you stay awake longer until say 11pm.

I tried to begin my routine, but went paintballing the next day and was VERY tired. Ended up sleeping 13 hours, and was a little annoyed at how much I slept. The problem I think might occur is fitting in the Nap, as I do have things going on into the early night.

Im beginning to wonder if I might not be able to make it work. As it is quite away from the Norm of most people.

We will wait and see,
Ill try to start when I know I won't be doing a lot.
