Default Can we talk to our cells?

I am currently researching and working on talking to my cells. Basically this entails changing the beliefs about myself which has a direct effect on my mental state, which in turn has an effect on my physiological state i.e my hormones and my cells.

I came across Bruce Lipton Ph.D. and he is passionate about this topic.

I am experimenting losing weight by changing the belief about my weight. I am hypnotising myself to believe that I am using much more energy than normal. I was about 14 pounds overweight for my height I was 191 pounds. Over the last few weeks I have lost about 7 pounds.

Obviously this is only anecdotal evidence but i am looking for more people experimenting with this form body control.

Has anybody else been experimenting with 'talking to your cells'. I think the implications for this could be huge. I am not talking about just losing weight I am talking about a host of other things we could change.

Yes. It is possible. I've also read some of Bruce Lipton's materials. Thinking beyond your genes is quite provocating and challenging, right?

But if you approach the situation from a different perspective everything will make sense. Think of your life as your empire. You are the CEO. You have decisiveness and ultimate control over your life. You can live your life as a lifeless zombie being socially conditioned and never achieving a higher state of awareness and being frustrated upon life and dwelling upon negatives. On the other hand, you can live your life by focusing upon your goals and growing on a daily basis, classifying obstacles as challenges, learn from your mistakes and failures, ultimately achieve a higher state of awareness that comes with a feeling of self-control and integrity. Which one sounds better?

Undoubtedly the first. You can shift from one to another. You can change your belief paradigm. You can replace your self-limiting beliefs with self-enhancing ones, you can cure phobias, enhance your personality thorough a lifetime. It has been said that failures and such happen because they teach us a specific thing. Therefore, one is able to learn and grow throughout his/her lifetime. Furthemore, definitely developing a more powerful pscyhe and character.

Considering the quality of your genes, I think, that chances are that the genes of a person that endeavored into personal development and ultimately controlled his/her life has, in fact, better or more powerful or more positive genes than another human being. Now I realize that this might be bogus, weird, bizarre and whatnot and you may not accept this. I understand.

What I want to emphasize here on is that the more we grow on the inside it will get reflected in the world outside, too. James Arthur Ray's "Inside/out" approach. So it completely makes sense that we can change every fiber of our human being, reprogram our genes and each cells, by changing our beliefs, conditions and taking charge of our lives. Reprogramming patterns, expand neuron pathways and awakening the dormant parts of our minds also helps to achieve these. Furthemore, in my opinion, the things described by Bruce Lipton to make sense. Even though I havent't had the time to endeavor into the details of his material.

As for your self-hypnosis activities, I'd suggest that you see yourself as thin as you desire. While beign in a deep trance see yourself experiencing the ideal weight. See yourself walking around and getting compliments from important key people. The people you admire, respect and love. Intensify the feelings. Emerge yourself into those pictures. Make them more vivid and bright! Mix in all of your 5 senses. Make them real!

Are you familiar with NLP? I'd recommend anchoring that state. Do it multiple times until the anchor is ready and you can fire it up on will. Then don't forget to keep up with your visualization exercises during self-hypnosis induced deep trance every late night and/or early morning. This is when your subconscious mind is in the most sensitive states and, therefore, accepts your hypnotic suggestions and affirmations.

You may want to work out and get involved into exercising. It does good for the body and your mind. It relieves stress, anxities and improves your level of testosterone (I assume you are a male, Steven) and ultimately feel-good hormones will make post-workout session quite lovable (endorphin release and dopamines.)

In fact, first and foremost you need to realize that your mind controls your body. You have ultimate control over your body because you are a conscious human being. Paul McKenna (leading hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner) explained that he is able to increase the growth of specific body parts (i.e., breast or penis enlargements in the natural way) by inducing deep trance and using hypnotic commands to burts up the growth of those body parts. In one of his interviews he explained that one of his patients, a women, required to enlarge one of her breats because they weren't simmetrical.

Apparently, the hypnotic sessions were so great that in a matter of few days or weeks, the lady returned enthusiastically asking for an enlargement on the other breast too because the previous one grew too big and yet again they weren't in balance. But it was solved in during another hypnosis session. Paul finally "balanced" her breasts.

I have written this story just for the sake of exemplifying the power of hypnosis and belief system (our paradigm). I hope you find it interesting.

All the best with your project and achieving your ideal thin athletic self.

Evidences of the brain "talking" to our cells could be found in the studies of MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) where a person's physiology is drastically changed when transferring from one "personality" to another...

Here is an excerpt from the "New York Times" a reputed source...

"For more than a century clinicians have occasionally reported isolated cases of dramatic biological changes in people with multiple personalities as they switched from one to another.

These include the abrupt appearance and disappearance of rashes, welts, scars and other tissue wounds; switches in handwriting and handedness; epilepsy, allergies and color blindness that strike only when a given personality is in control of the body."

I guess that "talking to cells" is a metaphor, isn't it? I see no reason to talk to any individual cell - one cell means nothing really and talking to few millions of them one by one is just too much effort.
However if we rephrase it to "talking to body" this is something I'm familiar with.
I do it often, and I've referred to this practice several times in my past posts.
The example that you've mentioned - speeding metabolism seems very doable to me. I haven't done it myself, never thought about such an idea. But all it would take is to elevate the level of adrenaline slightly. And that can be done.

I've used a similar approach to warm myself up, when cold and not able to move vigorously. I would imagine the feeling that you get while skiing. You usually get really hot, despite cold air around. The body knows this state and can reproduce it even without movements.

The usual ways to give such commands to the body are autogenic training and self-hypnosis.

Thanks for your reply, it led me to look in other areas of this. I know it as all about belief and i think this is the major way to change. If we can change our beliefs about ourselves to start with and then change our beliefs about the world then we are onto a winner.

I think a lot of people don't question their beliefs so see no need to change them or even think about changing them. I question everything and it has automatically led to me changing my beliefs about a whole host of things including religion, people, and myself.

Thanks for the link it was a great read and backed up what has been said in this discussion.

Yes, 'Talking to your body' might be more appropriate, I thought taking it right down to the basis of human life: your cells, might be a little more dramatic, but is essentially one and the same.

I have been experimenting with autogenic training on and off for a few years with good results.
