Default getting on the right path and staying there

I'm wondering if anyone here is vegan or a raw foodist. Actually, my question goes much further then just your diet preferences... I'm a vegetarian and a couple of weeks ago I went vegan (almost all raw) for three straight days and I have never felt better in my entire life. I fell out of it though, rather quickly, and am trying to get back into it for good. My energy seemed unlimited, I was really thin by the fourth day, and I felt SO happy and had great peace of mind. I didn't even mind working out for those few days. Now, I'm stuck back in this destructive cycle of overeating and drinking alcohol. I'm convinced that this happened because I saw an ex-boyfriend who was always quite toxic and drained my positive energy like a vampire. I saw him intentionally, so I take full responsibility for this. But I'm willing to give up my old toxic ways and habits (including him) if only I could just get back to where I was. I feel really drained and unhealthy now. I wish I could just get healthy and well and stay that way instead of constantly reverting back to my old self destructive ways. I don't pity myself, I just know that I'm a lightworker and that I have so much to give, if only I could get out of my own way. I'm about 10 lbs more then I was two weeks ago because I've been overeating and drinking a lot. I'm a model, so I really cant afford to gain weight at all. I have a show this Friday evening and I'm concerned that I wont feel confident enough to perform. So basically all of his has begun to effect my social, professional, and emotional well being. How do I do GOOD on a constant basis? Deep down, I'm a crazy health nut who drinks wheat grass and takes yoga and wants only good things for other people... But I always fall victim to the energy vampires of the world. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Make a habit out of it. Make working out a part of your schedule. Get up at the same time every day and exercise.

Make it difficult for yourself to do the wrong thing. Throw all the bad food out of your house. Have food at the same time every day.

Once you make a habit out of doing the right thing, and doing the wrong thing will feel unusual (not even wrong, unusual) - you're good to go. Good luck!

I hope u arent one of those crazy ppl (Like my old past) who avoid all fats and protein together just to stay "HEALTHY" and ended up getting hurt. A Low fat high carbohydrate vegan diet will not work for most ppl in the long term. You need a balance of good fats, protein and carbohydrate (control factor) to function optimally and eliminate the craving for all the high sugar junk food .

For animal source (humane)
I recommend uncontaminated raw milk, organic butter, organic egg, organic cheese for your souce of healthy fats (Sat and unsat) , protein and mineral.

As for vegetarian source of protein and fats .
I cant recommend enough the king of nuts - WALNUTS (Organic raw)
It's loaded with super rich source of Omega 6 and omega 3 at a perfect ratio of 4->6 to 1. Good source of protein and plenty of essential minerals (not sure there are truly chelated though !? anyone ?) that will help your vitamins work hundred times better.

Quote:
The proper form that a mineral needs to be in is one that the body recognizes, and is termed truly-chelated. This term means that a protein is bonded to the mineral – they become one – the way minerals are in protein foods like meat, chicken, and fish. The cell "welcomes" the protein, and along with it, the mineral. In order to get utilized by your body, minerals need to get into the cell. Scientifically, you need to know that the popular colloidal minerals are too big to enter the cell. Just because it is floating in liquid (the definition of a colloid), doesn't mean it can be utilized at the cellular level. Don’t be deceived.

Something I see in your post are several "always" "constantly" and other *absolute* kind of words, that lead to a destructive phrase. Near the end you say "....always fall victim...."

This often signals a message that your subconscious holds, which speaks in terms of always, never, etc. eg "I ALWAYS mess that up" or "I NEVER get it right".

See what I'm saying?

A good exercise is to complete this statement:

"I'd like to _____________, but: " and complete that over and over til there's just nothing left to write. This will tell you what messages your subconscious holds on a particular subject. These may be concepts that you picked up when you were very young.

Your subconscious will sabotage your conscious thinking if it's on a "different page".

Default Eat What the Cave People Ate to be Healthy

Hello,

We Were Designed to Eat Meat

I agree with Escapee's advice. Although I am not opposed to the vegan diet in any way, do realize that it goes against our evolutionary design to be vegan and it is not necessarily as healthy as people believe (unless you follow very strict nutritional guidelines). It goes against our evolutionary design because our ancestors (cave people) got their nutrition from fresh Organic meat (protein) sources (although they didn't know the meaning of organic back then). Eating foods dense in energy (calories) was important and they supplemented their diet with plants and seeds only when finding meat was not available. So eating plant material was an adjunct to their primarily meat diet.

More Vitamin A

One of the things vegans often lack is Vitamin A. We were designed to get Vitamin A from eating animal liver a couple times a month. Beta-Carotene is not Vitamin A, by the way, beta-carotene is a plant molecule that the body has to convert into Vitamin A.

Avoid Soy

Stay away from non-fermented Soy products. The research on the ill effects of soy is overwhelming. Read the book, The Whole Soy Story. Soy causes intolerances and hormonal problems to a very large portion of the population. It really really throws off your estrogen levels and it disrupts your endocrine and thyroid functioning. It has been linked to everything from breast cancer to infertility. No need to take my word for it, just research it yourself and you will see for yourself.

Fat Scare Myth

Fats are not bad like the media proclaims.....in fact, fats are extremely good for us and we don't need to be overly concerned with how much we eat of it. What we do need to pay attention to is the source of that fat and what is in it. Take this into account.....our ancestors ate a lot of animal fats as part of their regular diet. Fats become bad for us when we process them (trans fats / hydrogenated oils). Fats become bad when we eat animals that are eating crap and fed hormones because toxins are stored in fat tissues. Fats also become bad for us when we damage the fats by overheating them. Natural organic forms of fat are very good for us and like Escapee says, necessary for hormonal control. A general rule to follow with fat is if that fat source didn't exist 10,000 years ago.....then run!!

Sugar in Any Form Will Hurt You

It doesn't matter what form of sugar you consume. It will still hurt our bodies and make us fat. That even goes for fruit. Part of the reason why fruit, especially apples and strawberries, are now harmful for our bodies is because they are no longer natural fruits like they were hundreds of years ago. Selective breeding of these fruits have developed fruit which are now unnaturally loaded with sugar and hence bad for our bodies. Be careful of anything ending in an 'ose. Also stay away from foods that convert into sugars....starchy foods such as potatoes, rice and alcohol.

Be Careful About Grains

Most grains are bad for us. We were not necessarily designed to eat grains and grain products and these must be eaten in low moderation. A great majority of people are gluten intolerant so any grains or flours from grains that contain gluten can cause a whole range of problems, primarily leaky gut syndrome, which is responsible for, among other things, a "pooched" belly even though you work out like crazy and poor absorption of nutrients.

Raw Foods are Best

If you study the research work of Dr. Weston Price, you'll find that all the native cultures usually ate food sources that were unprocessed and for the most part, uncooked and unfermented. Assuming that the actual food was fed healthy nutrients, then that raw food should be healthy for us.

Stress and Emotions

All the healthy eating in the world won't help you if you are stressed out or in an emotional turmoil because of the events and people in your life. As my motto goes, "A Better WE Through a Stronger ME." Figure out what are the sources of your unhealthy stress and then figure out ways to either eliminate or dramatically decrease those sources of unhealthy stress. Then take time to nurture yourself by meditation, exercise, journaling, hobbies or crafts, being with nurturing friends, or planning your life with a coach.

This is not meant to give you all the answers, but it should be enough of a seed to get you to do some research for yourself. All the best to you.

That's all really excellent advice... I don't see myself eating meat ever again, since I've felt much better since giving it up. Maclinda, I'll definitely try that exercise since I feel that this is completely an internal problem. I've always felt limited in some belief, that hopefully I figure out once do the exercise. And as I said, not a matter of health, since I felt better and more energetic while vegan then ever before in my life. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Thanks everyone for the helpful words

Instead of setting goals for yourself regarding your diet and other aspects of your lifestyle, why not try setting your intentions and you might find things just start falling into place. You can even set intentions to avoid toxic people. Intentions often have a funny way of working themselves out without a lot of effort on your part since your subconscious mind is working on the intentions while your conscious mind is busy with other tasks.

John ~

Great article, thank you. It definitely gave me a really positive outlook on my whole life situation. I've actually seen synchronicites very recently and now I'm very excited (and grateful!) to see what's next. I've used the law of attraction for a while now and I'm starting to get the hang of it. The only problem I encounter, which I'm sure lots of others do as well, is letting negative thoughts in my head. I try and squash them whenever they pop up, and I'm getting better at recognizing when they are there. I just wish they wouldn't pop up at all, because thats how I've gotten into trouble in the past. I really do feel like I could be exactly who I want to be if I could just stop those thoughts. Is that a feasible goal?

Lauren

You sound like a person in need of REAL PROFESSIONAL help to me.

I can relate to some of the things you wrote and not to many. Many came off as really weird--out there in another world. Are you here? Can you hear me now?

I don't feel from what you wrote that you need professional help. And I certainly don't think that anything you said is weird.

Obviously I don't know you but you do sound like you are a really good person who just wants whats best for yourself. Identifying your problem, as they say, is the first step towards solving it. I feel that you know what your problem is, but solving it is sometimes the hard part. It requires discipline and hard-work. A committment.

As Steve has often said in many of his articles - you can be successful by doing more of the stuff that works and less of the stuff that doesn't work. He has often used it in the context of business, but I think it is obvious that it is a statement which can be applied to any area of your life.

Do more of what makes you feel good and happy, and less of what makes you feel sad and depressed.

But, you must remember to be sensible - especially when it comes to diet. It is more important to be healthy and happy, than to be thin. I know you are a model, but the most attractive models out there are the ones who take care of themselves and look healthy and womanly (like a lot of underwear/swimwear models for example). Toned curves are a womans best friend!

You said that being vegan and exercising for those few days made you feel great - well do more of that. Research the vegan/raw diet and make sure you are eating properly. Instead of making a long-term committment - maybe try just doing a 30-day trial. Be a vegan/raw foodist and exercise regularly for 30 days. If it works - stick to it. If it doesn't try something else for 30 days.

I wish you all the best and I hope you find what you are looking for.
