Default one day fast

Well like i said i just did a 7 day fast, and i have found my eating habbits have greatly inproved.I feel by doing a 2 weekly one day fast i will retain this and also still have some fat to get rid of.
For the people that disaprove of fasting: Try it out yourself!
A few years ago i woudnt have thought about it and had a negative aprouch towards it.

Now that i have tride it:great .Not only i feel realy fresh physicly also mentaly it gives me a great boost,Speaking for my self after i have completed the fast i am eating much more conscious than i was before listening more to my body/mind.

Yes i loose some power/muscle but it with my fresh attitude i am quicly gaining muscle/power again.

Default 8+ day water fast

so i've been fasting for almost 6 days now, only water --- no food, no juices, no medication.

i will not lie, i dont have any energy. it takes me forever to get motivated.
the past three days i did my normal workout, packed with full days. ive actually had days full of responsibilities since i started.

this isnt my first water fast, i did a 5 day in October, with about the same affects.

i am going until monday 9pm. it will be 8 days and 7 hours.

i have a feeling that my metabolism has some affect on the fast. i have always had a metabolism that is faster than everyone around me. [able to eat about 2500 calories/meal and not gain weight].

after three days i would say mental clarity was there... but now, its gone.
im not able to concentrate at all.

for those wondering why i am fasting:

i am a Christian, and i believe Christ died for my sins on the cross. i am fasting because God told me to. it is hard, but it will certainly be beneficial.
denying my flesh in order to bring myself closer to my Creator.

If you are fasting for Christ, are you praying three times a day (usually done during meal times)? Ask God for strength while you are fasting. This seems to help. You should also be asking God for something to change in your life.

My advice is you should stop the fasting now before you run into deficiency trouble. Yes the longer you fast, the closer you would get to Christ through physical death .

What about fasting + exercise?

Let's say i decide to do a 3-day water fast during the week. I go to the academy every monday, wednesday, and friday. So while fasting will the muscle exercises have any advantage for me body? Will i gain or maybe lose muscle mass if i exercise during fasting? Or it won't make any difference?

Please anyone give me some clarity over this issue.

I never completed any sort of fast, but I did experience detox systems when I started to switch over to a diet called Natural Hygeine. It is a diet that advocates mostly raw fruits and vegetables, along with raw seeds, nuts, and minimal cooked food. The high amount of water in the foods I ate really cleaned out my body, so there may be a possibility that you can achieve most of the benefits of fasting without taking that plunge. Start by eating fruits/vegetables before noon and then gradually introducing more concentrated foods into the mix. Fruit and vegetable fasts are probably a bit safer, too. I can't really say for sure. I will have to try a real fast as well to give you accurate data.

Default Exercise

You can exercise during a fast, however I would not recommend you doing too strenuous work. Exercise speeds up the detoxifying.

As far as death due to fasting, there are thousands if not millions of people who do a 2 to 3 week fast every year and I can assure you they are not falling over dying. I would be more worried about the people going through the fast food lane everyday when it comes to death.

Make sure you drink, drink, drink, and drink water and lots of it. Put a lemon or lime in it. You'll fine that water becomes very Blaine during a fast.

Default I'm all for it..

Hi.. Just reading through your posts and wanted to say I totally support fasting.. the detox and .. well overall wellbeing it brings is just amazing! I wanted to share my pics so you can see what a difference it made in me.. my face has totally cleared up and I look like a new person. If I'm not allowed to share my webpage, let me know and I'll take it down. I've looked around and saw other's posting.. so thought it was ok. It's just my blog where I post my progress is all. I have lost 100 pounds so far with 60 to go. Detoxing has made such a drastic difference in me.

Ok, enough for now.. keep up the good work everyone. I'm amazed at the support here .. even for Christian's fasting for spiritual purposes. That's awesome and something you don't see much unfortunatly .. was glad to come across this forum!

God bless..

Thumbs up fasting experience

Hello everyone,

I am new at the whole fasting thing. But I have gone on a four day water fast. I admite my main motive was to lose some weight but you know during this four day fast I had a lot more happening to me than just weight loss. A scar on my left leg disappeared about 50% and a growth in my mouth from post pregnancy hormones was shrinking on its own! My goal was to go on a 10 day water fast but my husband made me eat:: I was so excited about my discovery that I anounced it to the world but in return I got alot of
negative feedback and fear for my health comments. Not many people are advocates for fasting. But most of those people have never tryed a four day fast let alone tryed one at all. I have no way of backing up my experience except to say try it for your self. You may not be dissapointed.

Take care

Default Fasting.....

I think what you are describing here is a bit ridiculous for most people. Personally I think you could have these mental experiences that you speak of without fasting for 21 days. Also I agree that this wouldn't work unless you have a store of fat to burn. Those that are already thin would seriously be hurting themselves after 7days of fasting.

Also about eating PIZZA and CHIPS maybe this is the reason you have 40 extra pounds to burn.

My advice for everyone is to keep it healthy in a general sense and there is no need to FAST.

I don't agree with this. I eat pretty healthy (mostly organic and mostly vegan) and i am active and i did my first 24 hour fast last week and it was great.

I read quite a few fasting books, so i could completely understand what going on with my body.

Next week, i plan on launching a posts on my blog that deal with fasting and post my progress as i try a longer water fast.

Getting into fasting and mostly Vegan ? The following maybe of your interest .

the sad side of fasting

Treat fasting as a CRON (caloric restriction with adequate nutrition ) for insulin control and optimal nutrition. So dont overdo it to lose all your minerals, fats, and nutrients .

CRON
has been proven to prolong lifespan but i'm not so sure about fasting .

Quote:
CR is not the same as "going on a diet," or simply eating less, or starving oneself. Rather, it is a lifestyle set of low-Calorie, highly nutritious dietary choices -- based on the best available scientific evidence -- with specific goals in mind: avoidance of late-life diseases, improved physical fitness and late-life appearance, and, possibly, significant life-extension.

1. The majority (practically everyone) has over 5 percent body fat. That is enough stored energy to last you at least a month depending on your activities.

2. People who do this right really don't fast to lose weight. We have built up toxins in our bodies from several factors in our environment. Fruits and vegetables have a great deal of them from being sprayed and exposed to a whole host of things in the envirnoment.

3. I do believe you when you said your scar's visibility went away by 50 percent. When you fast the body is not focuisng on digestion and uses energy to heal other parts of the body.

Where do you guys get this from?
I mean, it would only take a night or two for a scientist to disprove of these methods. I'm not talking to the fasters, they are probably not within reach but to the dubious crowd. Don't fall into mass psychosis!

ok. so you insult people, make extreme statements, and want all of us to just take your word for it?

Most people do research before taking a step like this, myself included. I still have not found a single reference that says never do this. Everything i have read says be careful, but in moderation this practice is ok and there is strong scientific evidence to suggest fasting is good for you.

As far as I know, during Ramadan you are allowed to eat and drink between sunset and sunrise. So it's not the same as water fasting. Not to mention that it's done for different reasons.

Islamic fasting is NOTHING like water fasting. You are right. They can eat like a pig after sunset.

I once went on a 7 day water fast. Some days I was crawling around the floor I was so weak, I could not even walk to the loo. One day I had so much energy that I lifted my motor bike up with one hand after I dropped it. (A bee stung me on the cheek. I managed to pull over safely while it was stinging me but as I was pulling out the sting a big gust of wind blew the bike over)

I know it is really important how you break your fast. I know of someone who did permanent damage to his liver when he had fish and chips after a 5 day fast.

I broke my fast eating organic apricots from the garden. I think the hardest part is taking care of what you put into your body the day(s) after fasting as it is quite vulnerable and it is easy to succumb to the desire to eat everything in sight.

Default Water Fasting

Hello,

I must say I am a little concerned that people are taking part in water fasts. Are you all aware that there is such a thing as water toxicity? This happens when there is an excess in water intake and the kidneys are unable to excrete this excess causing electrolytes to dilute. Your body can't hold water without electrolytes. You feel nauseous, dizzy, weak and confused. People have died because of water intoxication.

Your body also needs others nutrients to build and repair cells - protein especially - as well as fatty acids from oils, nuts and fish (if you're not a vegan), glucose for brain power...the list goes on. There is an easier way to lose weight and detoxify. Eat organic fresh fruit and vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and drink 30ml to every kg of body weight that you have. That's the recommended average water intake with an extra 500ml per hour during exercise.

Water fasts are a dangerous, very unhealthy and unnecessary way to lose weight and detoxify. It's a massive burden on the body and you will feel worse for it. Your body needs all the nutrients it can get when it's going through the process of elimination. Please don't be so extreme

Smile Hello

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am from sunny Singapore, a tiny island at the southern tip of Malaysia in Southeast Asia.
I have gone through 2 weeks of fasting- juice and water. It was my first. I should say that it was terrible for me. I felt very weak in the first 3 days. But at the end of it I felt wonderful and lost about 2 kg.
