| I had an oil stain in my drive way, so I wanted to find a cheap way to clean it up. So I did a Google search, and was surprise what I found. It was to Pour cola on the oily or dry stained areas, and leave the cola on overnight to soften it up. What surprised me was that if, it can chip oil that has been grounded in to the ground. Then why are we drinking it, isn't it chipping away at us. I also hear it can chip the paint off a car. So I will ask the same question, why are we drinking it. You would think it would chip away at us. What kind of ingredients are we drinking. What are they putting in soda, if it can chip oil or paint. Glad I don't drink soda anymore, and I hope you don't, and if you do I would ask you to stop.

| That really comes across as rude. I don't know if you intended it or not. I agree with you though, which is why I avoid soda in general. |

| came across as rude, It was to get people attention!!! Because soda to me is dangerous, and you can buy it everywhere. I believe, my heart is in the right place, because we need to stop drinking this poison. If it were up to me I would close down, anyplace that makes soda. It is destroying the eating and drinking habits of this country. The sad part is know one seems to care, and the government is just letting it happen. It is dangerous and someone needs to give people a wake up call. Stop drinking soda it is bad for you, and I mean now!!!!!!!! I see to many people drinking to much soda, please stop drinking this crap!!!!! It might be hard to believe but I really care!! Good info Namaste.

Living in a free country, the government can't really prevent people from killing themselves. It's a freedom they have. Look at cigarettes. Look at all the crap on the packages. It basically says "This product will KILL YOU." and people still buy that crap in cartons. It's their right.

| Maybe 'rude' wasn't the right word. Your post made it sound like you had authority that you simply did not. Quote:

| The sugars in Coke are far worse for you than the acid can ever hope to be and you can argue very strongly that, in moderation, their detrimental effects are negligible. If that's not good enough, though, I have a suggestion: if you don't like it dont' drink it. Beyond that, let others do as they please. This is not a life-and-death issue, as it would be with some other substances, like crack, herion, meth and others. If people want to do something that's not the best for their health, then there will be consequences inherent to their actions for them to deal with. As long as they're not killing themselves or harming anyone else, that should be sufficient.

Stop telling other people what they should and shouldn't do. If I feel like having the occasional soda, who are you to tell me that I shouldn't be able to? I realize that it's not the healthiest of beverages, but I like the taste. That goes for any food. Or anything in life, for that matter. I'm not going to give up movies because I could be at the gym for an extra 2 hours every day instead. I'm not going to give up relationships because I might have my feelings hurt. I'm not going to give up music because it might be damaging my hearing. If you want to examine everything in your life and give it up for something less enjoyable in the name of health, go ahead. You might even outlive me. But I wouldn't be jealous, because while you're busy being miserable trying to make yourself live longer, I'd actually be enjoying life. |

| Jimmy, the Snopes article linked above points out that the acids in Coke are far weaker than your stomach acid. That's not the issue. I'm not discounting your problems with Coke, but it's not likely to be the acid.

| I heard that Sprite was actually better at cleaning than Coke, though I don't remember the source. And wasn't Coke originally made as a stomach medicin. My mum used to give me Coke to drink when I was little and had stomach problems. I stopped drinking sodas years ago. It wasn't really a conscious decision, I just stopped liking the stuff and the effect it has on me. I can still drink it, but if I can choose I'll go for a glass of water or freshly pressed juice instead. I believe Coke can be addictive, maybe not as strongly as heroin or cigarettes, but still addictive. I have friends who always buy Coke and have liters of it in their fridge at any time, and they don't seem to be able to stop drinking the stuff either. It's obviously doing nothing for their health, energy or waist line. Maybe banning Coke is taking it too far, but how about adding warnings on the bottles like they have on cigarettes. Maybe not the "This will kill you" stuff, but just labels saying this stuff contains ridiculous amounts of sugar and stuff that's bad for your health. |

I also think it's not okay to tell people what they should do. Especially here: We are in a forum for personal development. It's about c o n s c i o u s decisions. If there'd be someone who'd tell us everything and we'd have to obey how should and we get more conscious? |

| And I left an iron bar out in rain and it started to dissolve (rust)! If water does that to an iron bar, what's it doing to our insides!?!?! Methinks you may be oversimplifying biochemistry a tad.

| I used to know a car mechanic and he told me once that he had a car that the engine had completely ceased up on. As much as he tried to get the pistons to move hitting them with a sledge hammer they just wouldn't budge. So he went and bought 3 litres of Coke and poured it all into the engine block, left it for two weeks and the Coke unceased the engine. |
