Default The Complete Idiot's Guide to Vitamins and Minerals

Has anyone read this book? What did you think of it? A lot of the book seemed very...well, unpopular. That doesn't make it wrong, of course, but it makes me curious.

How do you define 'unpopular'? Do you mean that it is not PC, and doesn't espouse veganism, raw-foodism, Atkins/South-Beach/whatever diet fad is going about nowadays?

I don't know if I worded that last post very well. There were just a few things that grabbed my attention, and I couldn't find many other sources that agreed.

1. Some of the charts (the ones that said which nutrients were in which foods) strongly contradicted others I had seen (regardless of fads).

2. The book seems to say that you can't get enough vitamin E from eating. I thought this was strange, so I looked it up and found nothing else that said that.

3. The book isn't terribly old, but it is old, and I don't know if it is 'outdated' or not, or if it will ever really be outdated.

Did it list any primary sources that were used in writing the book?

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe that's why it's called the complete idiot's guide.

Wow, that's a first to me! Perhaps they got their "E's" and "D's" mixed up?

Good for you for being canny enough to question that info.
