| I found a great online support group called Weightcircles.com. It’s free and it doesn’t try to push a certain diet plan, just connects you with other people to help you stay motivated. That’s good for me, since I’m not on any special weight loss program, I’m just trying to exercise more & watch what I eat. They have “circles” which are groups of people with different goals, etc, like the Parent’s Circle and the Chocaholics’s circle – it’s pretty fun. |

| Here is the link if anyone is interested... I have not used it... but it does sound like a good idea... just like this forum for people who want to stay motivated... And... good luck to all those who want to lose weight... . |

| We have a similar thing in the Uk called Weight Watchers or Slimming World...basically you pay weekly to get told your fat in front of a loda of other fat people...and as Peter Kay said so wisely in one of his sketches: Team leader: Big round applause for "Sarah" whos lost a pound this week... Peter Kay: A pound? Whats that! It cost me £3.50 to get in! Ahh I laughed but seriously folks.... This is a scam. All you need is exercise. Dilligence and good diets. if you still can't lose weight, see a doctor not a freaking support circle... |

| AFAIK, the Steve Pavlina forums accept 'spam' so long as that spam is relevant to the forum and thread in question. In this case it seems to be relevant so there's no problem.

| Hi, I'm looking to lose some weight too and can't really see how people being supportive to one another is unhelpful or a scam. Sure the people who run the circle make money but then they have come up with the idea, gone to the effort of organising it or buying a franchise and not just sat there and thought about it , whats wrong with making money for trying to help people anyway as long as you provide the service you say your going to provide, if people don't take the advice surely thats their issue and not a scam?? We all know what we should be doing but not all of us me included always have the willpower or the right inclination to do it. Its well documented that having support whether its a friend or a group helps people achieve their goals. I just wish someone would come up with the same idea for gyms as its not always possible for my friend to come to the gym at the same time as me!!New business for someone perhaps, gym buddy, matching people in the same areasor even gyms who would like to train with others?? If someone would like to support me or have me support them in losing a few pounds let me know.Maybe we could have some sort of reward or sponsorship off you guys who don't need to lose a few pounds? Best wishes Kim |

| Hello Kim... Over eating... like any other bad habit, is there to satisfy a need... for some, it is a way of fighting frustration... for others a way of getting away from painful emotion... etc... So, if you can find out another way of compensating... it could help you tremendously toward achieving the weight loss that you want... My wife is very much in clothes and fashion... so, the satisfaction that she gets from looking good in nice clothes compensates very well for the sacrifices that she has to make in order to stay slim and trim... That's her technique... maybe you could find yours... Best of luck to you... . |

| Hi, thanks for that, guess you went to Anthony Robbins too?? Do you get my point though about people critisising self help groups, such as weight watchers, I love Anthony Robbins have been a couple of times and also signed up to goto Figi, I took on board most of what he says and listen to the Cds regularly, but really if we bring it down to its basic level he really just facilitates a hugh self help group and as you know he himself has been accused of being a conman but as with any self help group if we take the knowledge and not use it that doesn't make him or any self help gorups a con!! Just feeling healthier and having more energy really works for me, not too much into fashion I'm afraid, having been a model in the very shallow world of modelling, for several years whilst going through uni it kind of put me off watching the amount of pressure, stress and destructive behaviour people went in order to make themselves look good in other peoples eyes.I also have a friend who counsels people with eating disorders and have seen her go through the process herself, so guess in my mind I'm trying to stay away from being too extreme.I need to find a happy medium, which I guess I am! thanks doc I already feel better |

You say that you signed up for Figi… that’s fantastic… don’t forget to tell us about it upon your return… And, as you say, Tony has been criticized… but, mostly from losers on prozac and welfare… You say that you have been a model… that’s cool… you must be quite ugly then… (see, I also have a sense of humor) And as for my wife… she is into fashion for the love of it… however she is no way near being an extreme… just a happy medium… Looking forward to sharing more with you… . |
