Anybody find their job as a great opportunity to workout? I'm doing this magnet job. Its quite manual and today I got to try a new aspect of the work. As I got more and more familiar with the task, I began to establish a rhythm and a way of doing it that felt like a workout, due to the fact that that part of the work requires a bit of lifting and being the ergonomical , postural minded person that I am, I started focusing on technique queues and methods that made it more effective. It got interesting. This isn't the first encounter of this I've experienced, there are other parts of my work I get to use some qigong movement, it helps be in the flow. I'm just fascinated by the idea of making 'work' part of a 'workout' plan. Has anybody thought to do this? I'd be very interested for anyone to share their experience. |

Many construction workers indirectly to this and as a result, many of them are well built in the upper body. However, their work doesn't do much for cardio which is why many of them are also pot bellied. During the winter, I teach snow skiing several days per week. So much of my legs will get a good enough workout during the week. I'll then supplement with my other workouts at home with weights, cardio and martial arts, especially on my upper body. So a combo of work related physical activity plus other workouts to supplement would be interesting and effective too. |

Request a desk that has a switch for raising your workstation to a standing position. Many companies do this now because it promotes productivity (People think better while standing and sitting, not just sitting) and it's "ergonomic". But the time spent standing will definitely be noticed by your body. Otherwise, I'm just lucky my work has a work "fitness center." |

However, I think it's also important to exercise outside the workplace. While both these jobs are great cardio workouts, they don't compare with plyometrics and running. In my opinion it isn't a great workout unless your shirt is drenched in sweat afterwards. | |
