Challenge Tracking - 06:00 wake up

I am attempting to get up at 06:00 for the next 30 days having read Steve Pavlina's articles on the subject.

Day 1 (Today)

Went to sleep at around 23:30 yesterday
Got up at 05:50 today

This must be first time I have managed to get up early (without *really* having to) in a long while. I read somewhere that the first few days are the most important for establishing the habit so fingers crossed.

Anyone else challenging themselves to get up earlier at the moment?

Good luck on this one!

I would love to, but I'm currently having difficulties staying fit throughout the day, but it is something on my list for early next year.

Right now I have to get up at 6 because of my job, but I've always noticed it's hard to consistently get up earlier without a commitment. I guess the lesson is that you are more likely to get up if you have a commitment you MUST keep.

You might want to do something like schedule an early morning workout with someone else, or make some other appointment you can't break. Just a suggestion. It is possible to get up early without this, and I've done it... but I've always been much less consistent.

Thanks.

Day 2

Stayed up till 00:30 yesterday
Got up at 08:00 today

Woke up at 06:00 when the alarm went off but the urge to sleep was too great :( I think it's important to keep bedtimes early-ish to begin with until you develop the habit, so thats something I will have to focus on. I am determined to get back on track so I'll keep you guys posted.

Yep, I'm doing this too at the moment.
Started 3 days ago , my goal is to wake up every morning at
7:00 AM.

I find that it really depends on how tired I am, when I'm really fit I don't have any difficulty to get out of bed early. Too bad that's almost never the case :P

I'm currently working on starting my own business, so that means I need to have the discipline to get out of bed early. I'll start on getting fit, continued by a trial like this.

Hello,
I'd like to join in on this as well. I am starting today.

learnalifetime 12-20-2011 06:50 AM

@Cobalion How is it going?

I'm going to join on too. This week I wake up at 7 am. This used to be 7:30.
I do wake up, in fact today I woke up at 6:45, but I don't get out of bed. I just don't need to get out of bed until 7:30, so I have to find a way to get myself out of bed...

Goal

I used to do a lot of sports but because of an illness I've been having I couldn't do any sports at all. My focus is to start doing sports again starting January 1st, 2012.
My discipline in sports is very strong, so I don't see any trouble picking it up again. But I used to do sports in the evening but I'm trying to change that old habit into going to the gym at 7 am. This is the main reason I want to wake up at 6. The second reason is establishing a good habit (also for in the weekends).

That will take a while, but your body will get used to sleeping early. Just go to bed early, and your body will eventually adapt. (for me it takes around 1 or 2 weeks)

iamsodope 12-20-2011 01:47 PM

Ok, I started like a week ago but wrote down only since 4 Days, so this is how it goes like at the moment:

Day 1: 7:00
Day 2: 10:30 ( the day after saturday...:d )
Day 3: 7:30
Day 4(today): 7:00

If you wake up, do you go out of bed instantly or do you still lie in bed for some minutes ?

iamsodope 12-21-2011 07:30 AM

Day 5: 7:30, woke up at 7 but overslept for half an hour.

Folks, don't get up early unless you actually have something constructive and meaningful to do. An extra hour of sleep and rest can be very good for your health.

iamwho 12-21-2011 12:16 PM

ok, Day 2 for me -- Woke up by 6:30 am (30 minutes late). Still, slept only at 1:00 am the previous night. 7:00 pm to 1:00 am seems to be my most active hours. Need to somehow convert that into daytime.

Cobalion 12-21-2011 04:16 PM

Apologies for not keeping this up to date, had a bad run of getting up late

Days 3 – 7
Been getting up between 08:3010:30

Day 8
Got up at 05:55

I am finding that keeping the alarm clock away from the bed is useful, forcing me to get up. Also, the 2 days I have succeeded have been ones where I had a to-do list ready.

Cobalion 12-22-2011 03:46 PM

Day 9

Got up at 05:55 again, win!
Streak: 2

Not going to be easy to maintain over Christmas but I am optimistic. All I need to do now is work on utilizing the extra hours better :p

iamwho 12-22-2011 04:28 PM

Day 3 for me -- I failed today, woke up at 8:15 am. Unable to go to bed before 1:00 a.m seems to be the big problem. Need to cut down on media distractions which keep me awake till then !!.

iamsodope 12-22-2011 04:41 PM

Day 6: Woke up at 7:00, but was so tired that i went to bed at 9:00 again:mad:
