Headaches

Has anyone else gotten over chronic headaches? :D I used to get them frequently, then I stopped getting them for several months (like... 18?), now I'm getting them again. I don't think it's diet-related -- I can't make heads or tails of it.

I get pain behind my eyebrows (sinuses?) and across the top of my head, and the taste of blood in the back of my throat. It's quite unpleasant. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

ETA: Oh -- I don't think I'm actually bleeding. I don't have nosebleeds or blood in my saliva/phlegm/etc. I think something is happening neurologically that's causing me to taste it without it actually being there.

The usual cause for headaches is dehydration. If you haven't been paying attention to your water intake, now's a good time to start.

I usually drink a lot of water, but maybe I've not been so diligent lately -- I'm not sure. Maybe the dryness of the air is also contributing?

Every headache I have ever had.. as it turns out, was Diet Related.

Change your dietary lifestyle.

Stop with the Beer/Wine, Coffee, Tea and Soda.
AND DRINK WATER.

Stop with Fast Food, Junk Food.
AND EAT FRUIT.

Stop with Salt, White Sugar, Spices and OIL.
AND SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR HEADACHES.

Did you go to the doctor about this?

Oh well, may be I'm just a big old worry wart. I'm the type of person who will read Bronte literature and then be utterly convinced that I have some how contracted TB the next time I have a cough. :D

How often do you get them? For chronic health issues it might be useful to keep a journal to try and identify causes or triggers. You can track things like your cycle, food intakes, weather, exercise, levels of stress and fatigue, and exceptional events like travel, etc.

Good luck!

I get that as well--not always with headaches, though, sometimes just randomly. I never made much of it, since I checked for blood and there was none. I've also gotten over chronic headaches (they were diagnosed as migraines), around 30 months ago. I don't generally get any now unless they are muscle or diet related.

Not sure what to make of this--just interesting parallels!

You may want to check your blood pressure as headaches are a symptom for high blood pressure. If this is the case I think it is caused by drinking too much fluids and eating too much sweet.
If not, try remembering where were the places where you get the headaches and find if there is something in common with all of them, maybe something from the outside is causing them.

My suggestion is to consult your doctor. He will give you better advice. Years back i was having the same problem and i was not known about my condition. At that time it was my doctor who diagnosed my problem and by following his advice i was able to get rid of my headaches.

Going to your doctor has its place, but when its the very 1st thing you do, without doing everything in your power to take control of your own life, then I see this as irresponsible and likely to do you more harm than good.

Chances are 90%+ that if your doctor finds something such as high blood pressure, he will prescribe you medication.

Taking medication for issues that you could have resolved on your own, through a healthy lifestyle such as a Raw Food Diet and routine exercise is not going to be in your best interest and will only cause you more problems in the long run.

The reason you will have more problems is because you will continue to have an unhealthy lifestyle and the medication will leave the underlying problem untreated while only addressing the topical symptoms.

Please be responsible and change your lifestyle first, and only go to your doctor after you can at least honestly say to yourself that you have tried.

You know, I'm so used to them that it didn't occur to me. Without the year-and-change break, I probably wouldn't even have asked on this forum. :D

Lately, every day or every other day. They only happen when I'm tired. Thanks for the tip. :)

Glad I'm not alone! The blood taste is actually making me suspect migraines rather than headaches, because tasting(/smelling/seeing/hearing..) things that aren't there is usually a migraine thing.

I say that I don't think mine are triggered by diet because I can't see a reason they would have just stopped for so long.

:) I'm certain I don't have high bp, but thank you!

One thing that occurred to me after I posted that is that perhaps the blood-taste is what's usually referred to as a "metallic taste"? I'm not sure what that could mean, but it could be another angle to approach this from.

When I had migraines, I almost always had visual effects--not outright hallucinations, but I was incredibly sensitive to light and it distorted things sometimes.

When I mean diet triggered for me these days it's almost always an artificial sweetener, but I usually avoid those. Oh! And I've had some triggered by stress too.

The tiredness was always a factor here, too.

Ok, so that is one thing that you identified!

I agree with the person who said it before, keep a journal. What you eat, what weather it is, how tired you are, and if you have a headache.

In the mean time, do you meditate? It might be stress related, since normally we are more stressed when we are tired....?

While I wholeheartedly agree on not depending on a doctor for treatment, they can be very useful in identifying the problem. If your insurance covers you, go for a diagnosis, then find a way to treat it naturally.

I would agree with you on going soley for a diagnosis, if it wasn't for the nasty habit some doctors have of scaring their patients into medical treatment as well.

Doctor, "If you don't take the blood pressure medication... You will die."

This could very well be true if the patient did absolutely nothing about their condition, but it should also be the doctors responsibility to help them identify, natural treatments when they exist, instead of only highlighting the one that makes them money in the process.

The ONLY time I ever get headaches is when I'm dehydrated. Make sure you are not only getting enough water, but that you're consuming lots of high water content fruits and vegetables. It's MUCH easier to stay hydrated when you focus on them. You have to drink a lot more water if your diet consists of low water content foods.

Razia 12-14-2011 05:22 AM

Have you check your eyes, if you are getting specs then that may be reason for it.
If your daily work bring stress to your eyes then that too lead with headache.

Criseyde 12-14-2011 03:05 PM

Thank you all for your input! I appreciate it. In the last couple days, I've been trying to drink more water and sleep a little more, and I think it's helping. I did have a headache yesterday but it was mild and didn't come with the blood taste.

Requiem 12-15-2011 03:14 AM

I've encountered headaches sometimes if either:
a) I don't get enough exercise.
b) I go without any fish at all for months.
c) I eat too much processed food or sugar.

HarveySmith 12-21-2011 03:38 AM

I know this may seem overly simple, but one thing that I have done to relieve my tension headaches is to do about 40 sit-ups. It usually alleviates the pain for a good hour. You should definitely try it.
