Default The usage of Celtic Sea Salt

Hello everybody,

For quite a long time I've been following the superfood scene. And when you talk about superfoods, David Wolfe ofcourse pops into mind.

I think David wolfe has a lot of great knowledge, but there are some things he uses in his marketing that I really question.

Celtic Sea Salt

One of those things is the use of Celtic Sea Salt.

I've found a couple of sources on internet (including David Wolfe) that talk about the power of Celtic Sea Salt. They basicly say that it's very healthy.
You can read this article (external) or do a quick google search to find all about it.

Trying it

Just as with all thing I hear of, I have to try it myself before I really believe it.

So I tried Celtic Sea salt. I made Sole (if that's the right word), which basicly is 1/3 salt and 2/3 water. I took a single tea spoon for 3 weeks.

Results

After 3 weeks I started feeling weird when I was in the shower. I noticed that my heart rate was increased a lot (60 bpm!) while in the shower (it's usually around 100 when I'm showering at a warm temperature).
I stopped using the Celtic Sea Salt, and after a couple of days my heart rate went back to around a 100 while taking a warm shower.

My rest heart rate is usually around 50, when I took Celtic Sea Salt it went up to 70.

This is basically my experience that I want to share with you. Are there any people here that have experience with the use of Celtic Sea Salt?

No, but I would recommend Himalayan salt instead. Salt that comes from the sea would have pollutants in it that have to be processed out, whereas Himalayan salt is naturally as pure as it gets, and likely has even more nutritional value.

And have you used this in food or drinks?

I have a couple of Himalayan salt lamps, and I'm not sure they work. I can't find any sold evidence through Google about it.
