Default Heart Rate

I have a heart rate monitor and been exercising fairly consistently over the past 3 months. However, I'm starting to wonder about if this fluctuation I'm noticing is normal?

Just wearing it at rest watching tv, it'll tell me 85, 90, 88, 84 and keep jumping up and down anywhere within a 15 or so range. I'm pretty bad shape but I figured after doing cardio/areobic for the past 3 months and losing nearly 30 lbs would show some sort of improvement. Which there has, but not as much as I'd have thought by this time.

Hi I am told that anywhere between 60 and 100 is acceptable for an adult. Heart rates can be affected by stress levels as well. In some cases in can be a genetic thing.

Just continue with the exercise. There was a time (long ago, though) that my pulse was between 80-90 while resting. Now, it is mostly between 65-72. Losing weight (less than 10 lbs) and regular exercise did it, I guess.

My resting heart rate tends to jump from around 48-60 beats per minute. It is normal to move around a bit.

It's normal thats it jumps around a little. When resting my heart is around 45-50.

If your doing normal cardio exercises, i.e. rowing for 15 minutes. Your heart rate will lower, but it will take a lot of time. When you're doing a heart rate specific workout you'll see improvements much faster.

You could try and do interval cardio, which is great for lowering your overall heart rate (while resting and while doing exercises).
HIIT is one example of interval cardio. If you Google it, you can't miss it
