Question Mattress recommendations

I am looking to get a new mattress, but I am looking to get one that comfortable and does not off-gas. Can you recommend a mattress?

Thanks

off-gassing is when a new mattress gives off toxic fumes. It is not good to breathe these fumes.

When we got ours, we cut the plastic wrapper off of it and left it outside in the sun (with it up on one side) for awhile. Never noticed an odor from it, or had any allergy problems.

Default Foam

We bought a latex foam mattress from The Original Mattress Factory and put a "memory foam" topper thats a few inches thick on top of it (bought from Bed, Bath and Beyond). We cover the mattress/topper with a nice waterproof cover that we bought with the mattress in case the kids spill anything on it, as well as to stop any "dust mites" or whatever from penetrating into the mattress. This has saved the mattress several times already.

Here is link that talks about new mattresses and off-gassing

New Mattresses and Pillows Linked to Many Illness

I had bought a select comfort mattress a couple of years ago and it made me sick from the off-gassing. I had to return it and hold on to my old mattress.

I am looking to get a new one,but am little cautious about picking another one that will make sick.

Wink Same Problem But with Pillows

I honestly don't know about mattresses, I have always added a thick down bed topper to any mattress that I use.

My quest is always the perfect pillow. I have begun to believe that it does not exist.

Although, I visited a friend overnight recently and got to use her buckwheat hull pillow. I think I am in love!

The next time I have an extra $40 kicking around I am definitely getting one!

Wonder if they make mattresses?
