There are some people who stop eating something, like meat, after they see some very unpleasant videos either on the production or processing side. So I was wondering, is there any video / technique / way that someone may know which would make someone who loves chocolate and sweets in general to start hating them? Cheers |

lol I love chocolate, so i just choose natural. and every once in awhile ill have a reese's cup.. most of the time though when i crave chocolate ill make a quick protein shake. nitro fusion-chocolate w/water. it takes approx. 30 days to break a bad habit. i bet if you went on a raw whole food diet for 30 days you probably wouldn't crave it. however, you can have natural chocolate if you don't want to stop eating it. Have you tried eating as much chocolate as you want until the craving is gone? Obviously, this won't work for everyone, but this what helps me to deal with unhealthy cravings (hello, McFood). Instead of trying to resist a craving for McFood, I just eat it for few days and then the craving is naturally gone. The same thing with everything: I've tried resisting cravings before, now if I want to eat same food for a week, I eat it. Seems to work much better for me. In regards to chocolate, you should google it, but isn't a craving for chocolate is your body saying "give me magnesium"? You can try taking Chlorella and Spirullina, they have a reputation for reducing crazy cravings because they have so much good stuff in them. Lastly, I remember Tony Robbins shared a story how he cured a guy from chocolate addiction. He simply told him to eat nothing but chocolate for like ten days or whatever. After that, the guy couldn't even look to chocolate. Might be a little bit extreme, though.. |

I suffered from acid reflux and the resulting heartburn and one of the food items my doctor told me not to eat was chocolate. Before that, I loved to eat chocolate and it was very hard to stay away from eating it. The only thing which worked for me was discipline and I don't think there's anything else you can about it. You won't find any video or other shocking stuff which prevents you from eating chocolate.

If you buy the right chocolate, like the one I do, at 86% cacao, it will be very intense, and will either drive you away from chocolate, or give you a way healthier form of chocolate than the usual, garden variety chocolate bar. As of today, it's the only chocolate I eat, and it is actually pretty good for you as well. 2 squares a day chock full of antioxidants.

Easy, just don't add sugar to it. Eating raw unsweetened chocolate is interesting. Also, read Frederic Patenaude's article on Cacao: Superfood or Harmful Stimulant? EDIT: I just saw that superfoodist found the original article below. Thanks! I have added it to the above sentence. Chocolate lovers may find Frederic to be unfairly spreading lies about cacao, but even if he is, the OP did ask how to make his body hate chocolate. And, Fred does make some very good points. Even if you think he's just a ♥♥♥♥♥ and can't handle the chocolate. There's something unnerving about eating the ground dry seed of a fruit. Shouldn't you be eating the fruit? I don't grind date pits and eat them, and I'm sure they are probably PACKED with minerals and antioxidants. Well they don't taste good and don't have caffeine in them. Quote:
(1) The taste is addictive when sweetened, so basically it's a craving for sugar combined with the chocolate taste (2) It contains caffeine, which is an addictive stimulant So your body is saying "I want sugar and caffeine and also I like the taste of chocolate." It's not sophisticated enough to know about magnesium, that's your consciousness's job. Last edited by firenexx; 11-16-2011 at 03:34 PM.

Hi I have been on a wholefood diet now for a couple of weeks. I do it every once and a while to clean the tanks. I find that when I undertake this the urge to eat sugar or processed foods drops considerably as a natural reaction to cleansing. Also I remember seeing that Tom Hanks movie 'Castaway' a few years back. He appeared to lose a truck load of weight being marooned on a deserted island for a bit....... so maybe try that. |

Look into Raw Organic Cocoa (or Cacao) You can read about it here : Raw cacao benefits human longevity without any negative side effects! It's one of the most nutritionally packed foods in the world. It's what chocolate is made out of before all the sugar and processing. So.. Quit chocolate, and start eating cocoa in my opinion EDIT : Read this Is Raw Cacao a Superfood or Harmful Stimulant? | Frederic Patenaude Raw Foods Diet Thanks to the guy above who mentioned it. I never knew it had negative effects such as these. Last edited by superfoodist; 11-15-2011 at 11:58 PM. |

I quit chocolate for nearly 4 years about 30 years ago. I was eating around 3-4lb A DAY (paid for on a credit card and that's another story!). Eventually, I went cold-turkey. The way I did it was to promise myself that I could eat absolutely ANYTHING instead BUT nothing chocolate-flavoured at all, not even the tiniest choc-chip, not a chocolate shake, cake nothing. Day 4 was the worst - I recall going through a zillion MacD strawberry thickshakes that day! Gradually the cravings subsided. I had to get family and friends not to bring me any chocolate, buy me chocolates or anything. If anyone did, I would leave it out in the recreation areas at uni. with a note saying 'help yourselves'. It worked - not an atom of chocolate passed my lips for 4 years. Then, eventually, I allowed it to myself again, but the cravings were broken. I have phases of eating a lot especially if stressed, but nowadays have been known to go a whole week without any. I do agree though that chocolate has many good points, though I find around 60% is as high as I can go without it tasting disgusting and being a waste of money. |

I think body is sophisticated enough to know when it's experiencing some sort of defficiency. It's our conscious mind that is not sophisticated enough

There is a NLP technique called Mapping Across or Like to Dislike which works very well for these kind of things. I used to really REALLY crave and want peanut M&M's and Magnum almond.... now? I don't really care about them anymore. I could of course eat them, but why would I? It would be the same as eating paper. Sure... I guess I could... but why would I? PM me if you are interested. |

Once , at a health food store, I bought a bar of unsweetened chocolate. It had 0g of sugar. It was so bad. I tried, but I COULD NOT finish it. I passed it around to everyone else who was with me and nobody liked it. |

Similarly, I don't seem to notice any bad effects from eating chocolate - whether it's non-raw 45% cocoa vegan cooking chocolate, or raw coconut oil (or cocoa butter) and raw cacao powder mixes that I make myself, or anything in between. On the other hand, I've never been able to stand carob in any form, unlike the author of that article, and maca powder gives me symptoms somewhat similar to what he describes.

Otherwise, I still allow myself to eat dark chocolate once in a while. I don't have any problems with that.

kat, the thing to remember when reading that article, is that Frederic probably hasn't eaten raw chocolate in years, and has been eating a nearly 100% raw food diet. So any stimulant in small amounts is enough to shock the hell out of his system. I eat chocolate maybe once every week or two. I notice an effect, but not nearly as much as I would if I had it once a year and had no other "drugs" (alcohol, caffeine, etc.) I bet if Frederic Patenaude drank a cup of black coffee, he would have a heart attack. |

Cheesedip, chocolate does have "caffeine" but it is not the same caffeine that is in coffee or that is artificially added to drinks such as Monster or Coca-cola. It is a slightly different compound that is healthier for you. It is still not good to take on a daily basis, because it is still very addicting. However, like green tea, it can be enjoyed without worry of turning into a middle class American who can't survive without his or her morning "Cup o' Joe." |
