Aspartame is in almost ALL diet soft drinks. I know for a fact it's in drinks such as crystal lite and all diet sodas. Aspartame is nothing short of a deadly poison. Many people throughout the world have had very negative effects from drinking anything with aspartame inside of it, and I actually know someone personally who had a stroke from it. Inform yourself on Aspartame if it's something new to you.. You won't regret it. Aspartame Side Effects Also, Aspartame isn't only in diet soft drinks .. You'll also find it in certain candy, and almost ALL gum. The only 2 brands I haven't seen it in are Bubble Yum and Bazooka Bubble Gum (not saying you should start chewing these.. unless you want to completely destroy your teeth by coating them with pure sugar, lol). Anyways, avoid aspartame like the plague, because its pretty much just as debilitating.. Just over a longer period of time. |

Hi Superfoodist, I agree, aspartame should definitely be avoided. Sadly people are buying 'sugar free' hoping to be more healthy only to be dosed with aspartame instead which in my opinion is worse than sugar. These so called diet drinks may actually be causing weight problems from what I have heard. Yet to explain this to those drinking the stuff has little effect. They seem to be addicted. Surely aspartame should be banned. How can we stop pregnant women drinking this rubbish? Parents are ignorantly giving it to their children-then complaining that their children are badly behaved and hyperactive. No matter how much advertising campaigns say to the contrary surely it is pretty obvious that natural is best. J |

I've noticed that many products are opting for Splenda (sucralose) over aspartame now. Last I checked, there weren't many independent studies done on sucralose though, which I think was the case when aspartame first came out and was marketed as the perfect sugar substitute. Usually I'll see aspartame in restaurants because it is cheaper to buy Equal (or one of the other cheaper products) than Splenda. I always get a laugh out of the disclaimers (if there are any) - 'only consume this product on advise of your doctor!' |

Aspratame is HORRIBLE for you. Also, sometimes I wonder why people use flouride toothpaste when it says on the container: DO NOT SWALLOW. If swallowed, contact poison control center immedieatley... Big red flag right there..... |

I always thought the aspartame conspiracy was b*llshit, then I stopped drinking diet coke for 2 weeks and definitely noticed better skin tone plus very mild withdrawal symptoms. So now I only drink club soda for soft drinks |

| I try to avoid aspartame. Diet colas give me a stomach ache. When Splenda came out I tasted a sample of some kind of soda and it tasted awful!! Not sweet, not even drinkable. The sales pitch is that chlorine, which is present in sucralose, is a natural part of salt and is found in many vegetables, and also in municipal tap water. But does that mean I should ingest ever more chlorine?! |

I can't drink anything with Splenda in it. In the past, I would use it, but it finally dawned on me that it was the reason why I had the runs so often. I'm not sure why this happens though. Quote:
