Oh man today isn't getting better....I feel horrible for being in such a bad mood but I have really kept it together thru this fast so if I see it my way I'm allotted at least one bad day....in my families eyes its unacceptable for me to ever be in an off mood. Normally I can shake a moody day off rather quickly but I'm running on no food and 2 hours of sleep last night.....not a good combo at all. Now guess how much my husband is just wishing I would break my fast!

I can't tell you how badly I want to quit today....this is a horrible day! I really need motivation....

I am so sorry your hip and back are hurting...I figured you would be sore. At least your mood is good and.your husband hasn't said anything negative today.

so today i asked him what he wanted for dinner-he said tacos. lol i think ill just ask him from now on and cook what he wants instead of just making what i think he would want.. as long as hes happy & full the better it will be for me. lucky him this kind of food doesn't make him blow up like a balloon. i did use to love my taco salads.. extra lean ground beef, romaine, tomatos, sweet onion & salsa. yumm..

Ya I used to never ask but then i thought that might be rude since I cook food i don't even eat....so I started asking him and his answer was always " I don't know what do you want?". Forget that in my house especially with kids I just happen to be a pretty darn good cook so I cook what I feel like sounds fun to make that night and they are happy with that. Tonight I said for the first time in a very long time that I am absolutely not cooking dinner....between getting ready for thanksgiving and being in a bad funk I am taking whatever time I can to just chill out. I was on the brink of quitting today and somehow pushed through it. While I will say that maybe the hunger sensation might subside....the thought of food each and everyday is absolutely overwhelming and never goes away. If I thought about food like I do now I would be so fat! I am just pleases to see that the food I crave is the food that is so good for you not the junk food. Plus if you think I am willing to put crap in my body (except on the rare cheat days) after going through all of this.....you are crazy! All I have to do is remember how much I hated this and I will put the crap food down instantly.....lol

Has your weight loss maintained 1/2 pound loss a day? My husband loves taco salads as well...so did I way back. I found a good recipe for eggless egg salad...did you ever like egg salad? I used to love it and this non vegetarian guy put up his wifes recipe and he said he couldn't even tell.

You're funny...at least you care enough to cook him meals and make them as healthy as you can for him....lol.

I just finished all of my thanksgiving prep work.....now tomorrow I just have to stick the turkey in the oven and do the stuffing...one one our sons doesn't eat mashed potatoes so I will make him some Mac and cheese but at least I got a good chunk out of the way today.

Ya I have to say that the weight loss part of this fasting has probably been one of the more frustrating things. Naturally as a woman we love to see that number go down if we feel like we are restricting our normal diet and as always we want to see it drop each and every day....all I can say is trust me and it will go down...mine has stalled and restarted a couple times through this.

So far my mood seems to have leveled out to how I have normally been feeling lately...i think because I kept my mind busy by myself in the kitchen.

I really.am.so proud of you...it takes so much willpower to do this without the temptation of food around and you and I are cooking right thru it

Great job ladies and happy thanksgiving. "Normal weak feeling as always" sounds very familiar. That's what i encountered in each of my long fasts. My favorite place and the only place i truly felt comfortable was my bed. As long as i was laying down (reading or whatever) i felt great 93% of the time and the other 7% i had an icky feeling in my tummy.

Countrygal how are your competing nausea and thirst issues doing today?

I have a niece who is fasting on my suggestion for extremely high blood pressure and is about 3.5 days in. I'd like to see her reach at least 10 days and expect to see her bp drop by about 40/15 or better based on exceedingly successful clinical trials with fasting.

Countrygal, if you started the fast at 0% healing and 100% is perfect deep breathing every breath with no asthma, what % of healing do you feel you have reached so far in this fast?

All the best as you both continue. Each additional day makes a big difference.

Thank you mightysun. Well I am not feel the naseua as much any more so that's good....as far as the thirst goes I started chewing on ice today and that is one of the best things I have done....my mouth stays wet and I'm getting some water without feeling sick. Wish I figured that out sooner.

With my asthma today is the 4th day in a row where my lungs have felt almost perfect. I haven't used my breathing machine is of course the most noticeable difference and no wheezing (almost none). I know my lungs are still not healed to their potential so I would say that as of today they are between 60-70% better....I am very pleased to say the least.

I'm not dizzy and dont experience bad headaches much except when the sleep is so bad its unbearable....my only true symptom at this point is weakness accompanied by some stomach issues but hopefully I am getting that under control.

My attitude was so much better thankfully today because I got a decent nights sleep last night. I am feeling like my countdown to the end should be approaching so I am just trying to keep my eye on the prize. I have an endless supply of vegetables waiting for my new healthy body!!!!

Today sucks! my lower back is killing me. my cockerspaniel is being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by playing The "you cant catch me" game. I found a tick on my other dog.. flea/tick prevention my ass! just made an appointment with the vet to make sure she will be fine, luckily I only found one! ♥♥♥♥ing gross. My husband has duty, so he will be at work all day & night but he did promise me a massage tomorrow=)

I actually dont have any cravings today. I lost two pounds today.

I am telling you I know the feeling and it sucks...the only relief will be when you sleep. How are you sleeping by the way? I don't know why or what is going on but in my normal life I am the least gassy person....ya lately I cannot stop!!! How do you get gassy from water?

That is awesome that you lost 2 pounds today....that should give you a little light. I didn't lose anything today which is so great considering I was non stop moving yesterday! Not worried though cause it will all average out in the end.

It so great not to have days where you crave stuff. I had a couple of those days in the beginning where I didn't even think about food...now for as long as I see to remember I haven't gone a day where food wasn't front and center in my brain.

This ice cube trick I figured out is seriously a life saver...remember it in case you run in to similar issues as I did. Just keeping my mouth wet without drinking anything is so great on my stomach. Plus chewing ice cubes....never knew how much I would appreciate that....lol.

I would look up online how to remove ticks at home....it isn't that hard and much cheaper and easier than the vet....just a thought

i removed it already. the bite looks a little infected. I put neosporin on it. im still taking her in. I have the tick in a ziplock bag so they can check for lyme disease. They will also run some tests on her. Total cost $150.58.. This vet is one of the more expensive ones but they are worth it and actually care about the animals. lol i actually have an animal emergency savings account so it wont hurt us to take them in for one of those "just in case" plus they are indoor dogs and they usually only go to the vet for their yearly check up & shots. wow so im rambling on today (sorry)

Thanks for the ice tip.. that is wierd that your gassy. your poor family..lol

No thats the worst part I have never passed gas in front of my family! Lol
You could put peroxide on the bite till you get him in...that draws out any infection and I always use it....

I hope your day gets better...I'm sure we will talk tonight

Thank you Ivyw and mightysun. I am proud of myself and was so thankful to get a great nights sleep last night and feel like my personality is back...my family is so much happier too. So far my lungs feel great today and I juiced some fresh orange juice when I woke up and then a few hours later actually had a tofu scramble....I had an iceberg wedge with just drizzled extra virgin olive oil and so far I feel just fine....my stomach must be pretty iron-like! The only thing I am still so nervous about is my lungs....they are feeling wonderful and I am just hoping to feel them grow stronger.

Keep it up Ivyw and at this point if you've gotten past the hunger mark then you are hopefully on your way to a smooth fast. I can't wait to hear your updates on Saturdays and will keep checking in.

So far, so good it seems if you didn't have a bad reaction to the tofu scramble (whatever that is ), but keep in mind that if you begin to feel bogged down/wiped out or worse, it's because your digestive system has been over burdened and sometimes there can be a cumulative effect. If this should happen, you would need to step back to the most digestively simple foods, juice being far and away the simplest and fruit being 2nd.

Normally after a fast of this length (22 days was it?), the recommendation would be to have nothing but juice for at least 2 days and maybe 5 or 6, then just fruit for a few days before adding anything else. An alternative recommendation would be fruit right away but in very small quantities. The best chance for maximizing the beneficial results of your fast is to ease out very gradually allowing your digestive system a chance to gently emerge from hibernation and begin to return to normal functioning.

If what you have eaten has not slowed your down or made you feel lousy, then you are probably ok to keep doing what you're doing. What is not known is how great you might have felt by comparison if you were to have stayed with just juices for the first few days, but as long as you feel good it's not a big deal.

Every situation is different but i once fasted just 10 days and in breaking with whole fruits and vegetables, they were too much for me and bogged me down (though my quantities were not tiny). Stepping back into (digestively simple) juices for 2 days made me feel amazing and after this i was in every way ready for the whole fruits and veg that had been too much for me two days earlier.

Great to hear how much healing you have achieved in your lungs and it will also be interesting to see what kind of effect the fast had on your food allergies. To be honest i wouldn't expect your lungs to improve further now that the fast has been broken, but nor would i expect them to get worse any time soon.

Getting your personality back is great. Often when fasting there so little energy for something "so frivolous" as emotion or a smile, but the first day back to external nutriment (the day that we immediately emerge from deep detox) we usually experience a big positive change in that regard. I was deep into a long fast and watching a really funny comedian and actually had to turn it off because i couldn't afford the energy for the laughter.

so its 12:30 am. I have only been sleeping about 2 hours a day. Im glad Today marks the halfway point. I cant wait to be done. This ♥♥♥♥ing sucks. There is no way in hell i'm doing this for 40 days. I will for 30 though. I've never been so ♥♥♥♥ing miserable in my life. I have no energy but cant sleep. Im so bored.
I have no idea how much i weigh because my scale died & i don't feel like buying another. I do feel light as a feather though & like i'm wasting away. I can't seem to focus on anything. Im pissed off one min & sad the next. My emotions are all over the place.

my hips & lower back no longer hurt though.
The real test will be at the end of this fast when im in the gym doing the barbell squat.

these are the longest days of my life..
I cant wait until this is over...

Default Congratulation for the winner & keep it up Ivy

I have spent quite some time reading this thread from the beginning until the end.

I'm curious of how the asthma develops after you break your water fast, countrygal. Would you kindly share with us whether you successfully get rid of your asthma symptoms or they come back again but in lower dose?

Default day 21

wow i cant believe i made it this far! This is my longest fast=) I actually feel pretty good... also my hair feels sooooooooooooooo soft.

I stopped using tooth paste the 1st day of the fast and just brushed with water and my breath does not stink anymore lol. I have absolutely no pain in my lower back or hips. I no longer have headaches. The only problem i now have is with my brain.. its taking me alot longer to process thoughts I also feel like im a very boring person that just stares off into space.

I will make it to 30 days

Amazing job Ivy and it's great that these clear benefits have presented themselves .

Everything has slowed down as your body continues to cleanse and heal and the continuing detox will keep you (for the most part) in a slowed and weakened state. As much as possible just relax and enjoy it for what it is, delighting in the benefits you have already received and the others being obtained or deepened with each passing day. Know that you will be thinking a lot faster in 9 days once you break the fast and dramatically reduce the depths of your detox very swiftly.

2 questions:

If you find yourself in mid crisis (such as nausea) at 30 days, would you consider continuing until the crisis was gone?

Do you have any special plans in breaking and re-feeding?

Again great job. I'm happy to hear you are doing so well at this point.

Thanks=D

yes, if nausea happens at or aorund the 30 day mark i will wait until it passes.

My plan is to juice for one week, add fruits in the 2nd week, veges the 3rd, and fish the fourth, is there a better way of doing this?
