Thank you both. I am not in the slightest bit tempted for food so that is a lifesaver considering I am at a low point. It actually is making me depressed because all I can think about is how crappy I feel. I will post again tomorrow I am taking the advice and am going to watch a much needed movie.

Fasting can be difficult because of the removal of stimulation. Take away the stimulation of food and exercise and the mind can crave it. I actually broke my latest waterfast on the evening of Day 2 just because I was looking for entertainment in the form of eating and lifting weights. Fasters out there...lets keep fasting Day 1 again for me today. |

Also, if you are not thirsty i strongly recommend not drinking. It's all in the realm of listening to your body. If your body needs water it will signal you with thirst. If you feel repulsed by water, your body has what it needs within its ample reserves and would welcome a break from processing more. Contrary to wildly popular belief, there is no benefit whatsoever in forcing water upon ourselves when our body is not asking for it in the form of thirst and as an extension of this axiom, we definitely don't want to be drinking when our body is repulsed by it... in the same way we don't want to be eating when we are repulsed by food (as for example during nausea). As an interesting side note, our body actually produces water when we fast, about a liter per day, so even if it seems we are at risk of dehydrating ourselves by not drinking for a day or two, the likelihood of this happening is not nearly what we might have thought. When we burn fat a hydrogen by-product is released and when we breath we introduce oxygen. These two elements combine within our body and form h2o, commonly known as water and specifically metabolic water. For anybody interested in the perhaps surprising therapeutic benefits of actual dry fasting, (surprising because the idea goes against everything we have been conditioned to believe in regards to the essential nature of drinking 8 cups of water each day) this is a post i made a few months back linking several sources: 3.5 days into a Dry/Water-only Cascade Fast

Is there any legit proof about it actually improving/curing the disease glomerulonephritis? I would really try anything at this point since all doctors have said I'll have kidney failure eventually and need dialysis/transplant one day. My nephrologist said a water fast for me would be too straining on my kidneys and do further damage but I question him saying this as he can't just give me the okay to do something like that without a lawsuit if I wasn't monitored.

There is plenty of testimonials of people that had a variety of kidney diseases and are now either completely fine or almost there. I think that the important factor is how.long you fast and what you so after. In my case for instance, I need a longer fast (30 days) because of my asthma and food allergies. If you have read this thread you will see the highs and lows of this fast but most importantly is how drastically my asthma is improving. Obviously I can't test my FOOD allergies! My asthma was my main concern anyways. I would say to do a 3 day fast so you can see what to expect at the beginning and whatever you do don't quit during those.3 days. You will be fine and yes.it will suck. Then plan some time where you can.set aside for a longer fast. For me its an easy decision...30 days.for my body to reset to an almost birth-like state and live free of these toxins causing my issues. After the fast you need to remember that your body.needs.clean food in order to stay clean so while you're fasting and read up.

You have been so amazing through this for me. Today is such a better day. I will say that I went off on the cashier at walmart today cause she was rude...normally I wouldn't give it a second thought or waste my time....well while fasting I will warn that your tolerance and patience is minimal. So after that episode, I immediately got really sick to my stomach from my heart rate being too high. I sat down (felt stupid) of course no where in sight for her to see....let my heart rate regulate and then I felt back to the norm again. So stupid! Other than that episode I felt pretty typically weak nothing new. Oh by the way, i have had the worst upper back pain for the last week and I think I figures it out today. When I would get an asthma attack the only relief my husband could offer me was rubbing my back cause it was so painful. So I think that my lungs are.releases all the toxins in there and the back pain is a clear result of that process and finally makes so much sense. Besides the fact that I.rarely use my breathing machine anymore it is another great sign that my body is doing its job. I could be wrong but I never have chronic back pain and this is all as a result of fasting cause I'm doing nothing different physically. Are you water fasting yet? I think you are soooo ready...lol. I am excited to do this together....I can help you through the rough patches as you can help me. You know what I am looking forward to more than juice which is what I initially thought I would want....I can't wait for vegetable broth homemade of course. |

LoL i plan to avoid most of the outside world during this fast, just to prevent myself from ruining someone else's day, haha. I know during the last short fast i was actually friendlier than i usually am.. im sure that will change with this longer one. ugh, chronic back pain is awful, but im glad your body is taking care of itself. I love vegetable broth. yum!

I'm excited for you to start Sunday. Today seems.to have started off pretty good so cross my fingers it stays this way. What have you been drinking all this time on the juice fast Ivyw? Do you enjoy those green drinks? I can't even think about those without my stomach turning....lol. I would be stuck with vegetable broth....fruit juice and smoothies. I actually plan on doing that to maintain my health when im done every other day. Crap after this water fast juicing every other day seems like a royal treat! I really hope your body heals itself on the water fast like mine is. I can't imagine why it wouldn't. If anything you have a healthier advantage from juicing this long. My body probably struggled from going from my normal eating and straight in to fasting....probably not advised

Are you vegan primarily? I couldn't juice like that.....I love veggies but not a liquid mixture of a combination. I will be sipping homemade vegetable broth and fresh orange juice on those days. You sound more daring than I am...lol

no lol i love meat. however i did cut back quite a bit. When I was put on dexpak a few months ago it caused problems with my pancreas. now, for some reason, steak causes it to swell some. I can handle it if its like a very small piece but a typical regular 3-4oz portion is too much. I think the water fast will help with that too. Chicken was irritating it for awhile but now no longer does. Before I started juicing though i was only eating seafood & eggs outside of my fruits & veges.

Ya u think I'm going to start eating seared ahi tuna again. That's the only fish i like but i haven't had it in a few years and miss it. No other meat appeals to me anymore...or eggs...or cows milk. I can't stop thinking about how excited I am to finish this fast and eat some asparagus....i know its weird but I love those things. So what did you juice today? Have you at least lost weight with all this juicing? |

Well I can't wait for seared ahi tuna and some edamame! I havent even eaten cheese since I gave up milk and I used to absolutely love cheese. Now it grosses me out. I use some good cream cheese substitutes on my toast and shredded vegan cheese that melts just the same and tastes so good to me. Even my husband will eat it when I can't finish my dinners or if he tries a bite of mine and he doesn't think it tastes even slightly bad and he is the furthest from a vegan. Well I lost 2 pounds the first 2 days and then 1 pound or close enough to 1 pound a day since. I can't believe with all that juicing you only lost 3 pounds. I wouldn't have had the motivation to keep that up. I have 2 motivating factors that keep me going through this....my asthma is improving significantly and am losing weight along the way |

Do your days feel as long as mine do? These have been the longest days ever. Yesterday I felt fine but could barely move most of the day. I noticed that every time I moved my heart rate would spike and I would have to sit back down. Does your breathe kick butt yet? This is crazy that my breathe has been so disgusting this whole time its embarassing so thankfully I'm not feeling social. Today I am going to do all of my thanksgiving food shopping and it doesn't even remotely bother me to think I am missing out this year. I have mentally prepared myself this whole time that on Christmas I can enjoy some dishes with my family. Luckily I don't speak to anyone in my family except my brother and he lives out of state. So my holidays are gladly spent with my husband and kids who all know what I'm doing and understand and support me. if you are not married this will be so much easier for you mentally hopefully cause you will be slightly short fused at times and have to watch everyone else eat. Only in the beginning did that bother me....now food is irrelevant. I am so excited you are starting Sunday! The sooner you start the faster it will be over. I will still be blogging with you while you finish your fast. The most disappointing thing for me will be if my asthma comes back a couple months after I'm done. The weight I'm not worried about cause I eat healthy so it shouldn't come back...of course a couple pounds will but it better not be more than 3 or 4.... Lol

Well at least he will leave you alone about it. Is he concerned about it leading to anorexia? My husband was but then I just filled him up with all the benefits of my asthma. I personally dont think my husband thought I would have made it this far. He knows I'm strong willed but this is the toughest one with food. I have given up many foods and never thought twice but giving up all food and beverages except water....pretty proud of myself. I am glad that it didn't take forever for my body to start healing my lungs cause now he totally believes in this fasting. The breathe is killing him and my lack of energy cause of my sex drive. Plus we are forced to lay around a lot. He never bothers me about any of it though. I replied to your friend request but don't know if it went through. Did you get it? I saw your other posting where you made that person mad for calling cows milk puss....I was laughing. Pretty sensitive folks. At least they will have heard the truth one time about milk....lol |

yes, he is concerned with it leading to anorexia. He also doesn't believe it will heal anything, and keeps telling just to go back to the doctor.. i hope to prove him wrong I might make a trip to the store & buy him porn. I don't think after the second week ill be in the mood again until the fast is over. I haven't decided if i wanted to spend money on that though especially when you can get it free from this wonderful thing called the internet lol the friend request did go through |

Im sure he knows all the right sites to look at....no need to purchase those anymore. Just make him promise not to get mad and to just understand that it will be over soon and you can get back to normal. If he sees any medical benefit then hopefully that will help. Otherwise you make have to fake it that you are in the mood....not an easy task during this. How tall are you now and how much do you weigh? Will he notice every pound or can you just say you only lost a few ounces?

Why are you wanting to bring your weight up to 150? Are you a bodybuilder? I'm 5'9 and at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if I dropped below 120 on this fast....I won't let my body gain back more than 5 pounds without taking it off immediately. I think that if I didn't have a level head a broad knowledge of nutrition I would probably be a good candidate for an eating disorder. I have weird thoughts about food. For instance I can't look at someone eating....even on tv..I cannot hear someone eat or drink anything...I actually get tense. The lunch table in grade school was torture for me. If I see overweight people eating I actually get full if I'm eating. If I learn about a food that I didn't know was bad for you and believe it I will get completely repulsed by that item.....the list goes on trust me! So do you eat cheese or as far as dairy goes you just avoid the actual milk drink? |

If i want to feel good at all lol my diet has to be strict. |

That's so awesome my girlfriend has competed for the last 5 years....tell your husband to be aware.when you are in season cause she gets soooooo Moody! She looks her beat though when she's on her quick breaks. She has to work out for about 4 hours 2 times a day when she is in season and it is really hard on her body. There is no money in it even though she takes first place and has her pro card. The only money is from print work doing photos. But....she's addicted and loves it to death! I am so rooting for you to follow that dream if its something you want to do....its competitve as hell and pushes you to the limit which is why I thought I would love it but I couldn't dedicate that much time for workouts. |
