| For people that see this as totally in left field, check out the active ingredients in some medicines, from Premarin (pregnant mare urine, female hormone drug) to urea for skin applications. Here's one discussing skin applications that just popped up when I googled it: Talk Eczema: Feture - Beneficial Effects of Urea "Applying urea directly to the skin increases the moisture binding capacity of the skin, thus rehydrating the skin, softening it and reducing cracking and roughness. It also helps reduce the cycle of itching and irritation, producing a localised anesthetic affect, as well as the likelihood of flare-ups. Urea penetrates and re-hydrates the Corneum. Also, the addition of urea to dermatological preparations increased the penetration of other substances, such as cortcosteroids, which is attributed to urea's ability to increase skin hydration after application." When I used to use a special acne soap, I noticed that urea was one of the key ingredients. |

So if i don't want my pee on my face... I have a problem of flaky, dry skin and it started to show up rapidly in last 6 months. Seems like you get over 25-26 you begin to get old quickly. I think this is also produced by drop of free radicals fighting mechanism. |

This is a simple one (especially if you aren't already doing it): up your water intake. I drink a pretty respectable amount of water already, but a few years ago, I tried an alternative treatment for a minor facial skin problem I had because the cream for it was expensive and burned a bit. Part of the treatment was drinking about 120 oz. of water a day (not all from the first day, which can make you sick, but worked up to it over a week or so). My skin cleared up in a few weeks, and as a side bonus, my pores did seem to tighten up.

A good option for acne scarring is to get a salycilic acid peel. They are relatively unexpensive, and show really good results after just a few treatments. I know there are some over the counter peels available, but the salycilic acid concentration is low so it takes longer to see any results. You can get these peels done at a dermatalogists office or by an esthetician. If you can find a beauty school that trains estheticians you can get peels there for a lot less money.

"Don't take this therapy lightly. Multiple sclerosis, colitis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, hepatitis, hyperactivity, pancreatic insufficiency, psoriasis, eczema, diabetes, herpes, mononucleosis, adrenal failure, allergies and so many other ailments have been relieved through use of this therapy. After you overcome your initial gag response (I know I had one), you will realize that something big is going on, and if you are searching for health, this is an area to investigate. There are numerous reports and double blind studies which go back to the turn of the century supporting the efficacy of using urine for health." Sorry i dont buy into urine therapy. It can cure cancer? Diabetes?? It might, just as much as some placebos out there. There's the link where i got it from: Urine Therapy: A cure for all diseases

| Your processed vegetable oil or grilled food will probably not get you enough of functional Omega 6/3. My advice is get the oil in the most unrefined form from organic nuts, seeds and supplementation packaged with health in mind ( Refrigeration, dark glass and etc). Once your EFAs status are normalized, you would no longer have that dried and poor skin/lips when you wake in the morning . EFAs acne - Yahoo! What the... urine?! Believer, stevepavlina.com is not the website for these questions. You might have more luck on Acne.org I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but acne scarring is very difficult to get rid of effectively... there are laser treatments that are performed in hospitals and acid peels... A common treatment is 'needling' where you puncture the scars with needles- this doesn't hurt- scars are dead tissue. Over a period of months this breaks down the scar tissue and live tissue is allowed to grow back. |

I can share my experience with that. When I was younger (< 21) I had severe problems with acne. I tried all the usual stuff you could get in shops for skin treatment. Nothing really worked. After years and years I finally went to see a professional doctor. I got a rather tough treatment with some cream containing benzoylperoxid (?). It worked for me and I have never looked back. I wished I had seen a good doctor much much earlier instead of trying out everything myself. People have been there before. See a professional. |

BTW, I'm surprised benzoyl peroxide cleared up your severe acne...normally accutane is required for that. | |

I agree that acne scarring is very difficult to treat, and if bad can last a lifetime. Apart from the urine, I think all the products mentioned would be beneficial but wouldn't cure it. I suggest work out the best strategy to cover it as best you can and learn to live with it. It is probably not as bad as you imagine it to be.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned apple cider vinegar!!! A lot of people swear by ACV for a lot of different things including improving skin quality. You should look into it
