Default Is warm water good for health?

Just wondering because I have heard somewhere that the reason why many Chinese and other Far Easterners are so trim is because they drink a lot of warm beverages.

Perhaps it is just because coffee and tea are usually served warm .... and are less fattening than Coke & 7-Up.

I'm Canadian-Chinese and through my observations of many Chinese while growing up, I didn't notice any significant difference in the intake of hot beverages like tea in my community compared to others who drink tea or coffee. I think most of us are slimmer because our meat consumption is not as high. And despite the take out Chinese food which is often deep fried that most people are aware of, our home meals are rarely fried so the overall fat content of our diets at home might be lower too.

If you give it time, the taste buds can shift. In my case, my taste buds actually don't like fried foods or fatty foods or even too sweet items anymore. Like many things, one can adapt over time.

Wink Hot water vs cold

There is a reason why you need a freezer...to prevent food from decomposing.
so if you drink cold water...it will slowdown digestion...especially at night you will dream alot.
Longterm, eventually what I see in the clinic is constant bloating, digestion problem...most of them have belly. Also, body try to maintain hemostasis at 98.6F, so you wasting good energy ...no you not burning unwanted calorie unless you starving.

They're thin, but they tend not to be very muscular and have very androgynous figures. It probably has to do with their high carb diet. I don't find that body type very attractive (especially in men), but that's probably my Western bias showing.

Being a Chinese male myself, I agree with this observation. Most Asians are not that physical activities minded which also result in their frail looking physiques. Unfortunately, not all of them could look like their men's gymnastics team.

Low meat consumption does not equal slimmer. Low muscle mass, but not so much slimmer.

I'd say that the OP's observations, probably has something to do with level of activity in those people, and perhaps lack of food due to monetary reasons.

Probably more related to activity. I wasn't really referring to China. Hong Kong is not a poor region but the folks there, especially the men, are slim too even though they eat like horses.

Hi Mehreen,
You heard right that drinking warm/hot water is good for health.
Warm water purify mind, blood stream and body,
Body temperature rise slightly,
Perspiration induced flushes toxins from your body,
Drinking hot water can be effective in clearing nasal cavities.

I don't think they are starving, but I don't think the 1,338,299,500 people all have enough food to eat, or at the very least, as much food as Americans eat.

Would be nice to see some statistics. I think poorer sections in many countries do not get enough nutrition where as middle class and above do. Depends on which cross section you are looking at.

I remember reading that cold beverages can "shock" the digestive system. They can also disrupt the activity of the organisms that are responsible for synthesizing vitamin B-12.

Americans have a case of overeating (excuse my generalizing) that translates into a huge problem.

Um, most bacteria thrive between 40 and 140 Fahrenheit. Unless you are freezing or being scalded to death like that guy in the scientology hospital, your bath water is not bacteria free.
