I think this is also becoming a very vague term. People throw it around without really understanding what it means. It's also good for gimmicks and taking people's money. I have the feeling that most people consider health as longevity. If you want to be healthy, you want to live a long life. I think this is only a very small portion of health and really not even the most important part. For me, health is: - Being energized for an entire day - Having pain-free and restriction-free movement - Emotionally good feeling - Good performance (both mental and physical) - Longevity WHO definition: "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." When you think about health as a long-term thing, of course, it doesn't necessarily excite you. "What do I care if I live up to a 100?" When you think about health as how you feel right now, it's much more powerful. What does health mean for you? |

Health to me means the same points you already mentioned - I do like that list. However, I would also add on top of that, I good clean bill of health at my annual medical checkup. Despite some people here not being too fond of doctors, I still put some value in my annual lab tests as well as BP readings.

'Healthy' can be susceptible to one's definition. In general terms, I would say, clean diet, well functioning organs and a base level of fitness. That said, other criterias come up such mental health, emotional health and check up health. I would say that there is no absolutes to health. You can be healthy, and yet have some areas thats a concern like high blood pressure, poor stamina or even poor dental health. Maybe its best to evaluate one's health on the criterias that one values. HOW do you want to be healthy? |
