Default My hair is perfect only when I do nothing to it

I'm 19, a guy, and am facing this rather benign problem, if you like.

Whenever I apply hair cream, shampoo, gel or conditioner, my hair becomes rather unmanageable the following day. It's difficult to comb and appears to be rather dry.

However, when I apply nothing to it, it's just perfect and very good looking.

Problem is, I can't make out whether it's healthy in the latter case. Also, I'm forced to have to shampoo it after I go for a swim.

So. What should I do? Should I leave the hair alone? It won't fall out one day will it?

Your asking if NOT putting chemicals in your hair, will make it fall out one day?

Most commercial shampoos and conditioners make hair dry out like this. Then, the scalp over-produces the natural oils so a day or two after that, the hair will become super-greasy.

When you apply nothing to it, and it is easy to manage, it is most certainly healthy. Hair does not "need" shampoo to be healthy. Try using less shampoo, or a more natural brand that does not completely destroy all your hair's natural oils (hence the dryness).

Is it curly?

Looks best if I go straight to bed after showering. I get the most compliments.

Comb it or anything, it's all frizzy and crazy looking.

Nope, straight. I can see where you're coming from though. Sort of a "Don't fix it if it ain't broken" mentality to that. Combs are quite unnecessary.

If your hair is best when doing nothing... then do nothing! There's no point in putting chemicals all over your hair if it's not going to improve its appearance .

Human beings weren't created with a NEED to use shampoo, conditioner and styling products. In fact, we survived for millennia without them. I'm not saying you should never shampoo or whatever, but if it looks good for awhile without it, then just don't use it as often.
