hej. lately i recognized that i dont feel as halthy as id like to. i noticed that there are tremendious advantages or would be, if i would feel totally healthy. its good for dealing with stress & fear or anxiety. another thing is the feel good response you get from your body. & than i think it makes you naturally confident. but i dont know many sports i really like, than i am smoking and im not at the point where i feel like the negative effects overmatch the positive effects, i actually like it, im not chain smoking though and like to use it in certain situations... i like to skate, which i noticed is the sport at which i am mostly motivated to do it & so i also can do it a very long time. anyhow ive tried and experimentet with sports and which effects they have and how much fun they are to me. but i acctually noticed that if i am toally stressed and feel exhausted i cant even do any sports. maybe i should just relax first & do a sport when i fell its right but what do you think? |

I know what you mean, I play a lot of tennis but I don't really enjoy it when I'm stressed. When I'm not in the mood to play sports, what helps for me is to do exercises that get me really tired without having to think much. This effectively gets me feeling much sharper and more relaxed. Running works particularly well. |

As Tony Robbins and other health experts would say... CREATE EMOTIONAL LEVERAGE Do whatever you have to do to gross yourself out - watch Food Inc., read Steve's posts about Factory Farming/Raw Foods and the tremendous advantages to your emotions, well-being, productivity-level, money-making, intimate relationships, etc. Use some of these POWERFUL motivators that we all have to get yourself in gear and KEEP REMINDING YOURSELF. You can take it slow at first, but maybe you just need to make a 2-3 week push to get yourself going, then you can take a break, etc. Also, check out Evolve with Flavor - that will give you some motivation as to what is possible for your health - I also can tell you from personal experience that his energy rubs off on me and through the videos, so SEEK sources of inspiration such as this to keep yourself on track. Keep coming back to these sites, get new friends, generally HUSTLE to get yourself going any way you can. |

They used to say that when you smoke 15 minutes, it shortens your life by 15 minutes. They no longer say that but it is still the case. But that is great! Why? Nicotine is a powerful narcotic and the carbon monoxide numbs your brain. So it makes your life much more miserable so the sooner you die, the less misery you will have to suffer. Although with your brain numbed you do not know how miserable you are. In summation it makes you a very unconcious person. Also you know how it feels when you need to go to the bathroom badly but there is no place to go. The misery is so great that it is more important than anything else! You can always go in your pants. In many places you cannot smoke and you will be dying to smoke just like the need to go to the bathroom with none around. It is not hell. It is worse than hell. Although the brain numbness makes it so you do not know that you are in a place worse than hell. This Italian guy told me his history with smoking. It was short. His father caught him smoking and then made him eat a cigarette. The guy got very sick and vomited a lot but he never smoked again! This guy now owns a chain of car bodywork places. Spreadtheword, of course I don't need to tell you that smoking is bad but isn't it the whole problem with smoking that you only recognize the negative parts when it is to late. Smoking actually make's you feel more stressful and exhausted (I did it for many years). Now I don't know what your lifestyle is. If there are other factors that give you stress and make you tired (like working to much for ex.) but in my opinion you should put priority on dumping the cigarettes if you want want to feel more energetic and less stressful. Don't lie to yourself or postpone working on that problem. It is like Ginkgo says Nicotine is a powerful narcotic that messes with your brain, fooling you that it is ok to use. Big problem is, telling a smoker about the dangers about smoking seldom motivates them enough to actually stop. It more likely gives the opposite effect but I think if you really want to improve your health and get more energy to do the things you like then you have to quit. My advice to you is stop smoking and go for a walk when you feel the strong need to smoke. Walking is not so exhausting and it will clear you thoughts while in the mean time you have some exercise. If you start feeling more energetic then move on to others sports that you really want to do. Last edited by Sentosa; 09-18-2011 at 08:20 AM. |

If you like skating, than you should definitely continue it. Also you can try to explore similar sports such as rollerblading which will be a good off-season activity for you since it is so close to skating. If you like sliding, you might try cross-country skiing in the winter too as another sport you can do along with skating. And yes, quit smoking. You will actually enjoy your sports more if you do. |
