Default Strange Food Cravings

I cannot get fresh, natural oysters out of my brain lately. It's really weird because I hated oysters until about a year ago and now I can't get enough of them.

Anybody else have weird food cravings?

There is a theory that some foods have toxins in them that are kind of addictive. After someone smokes, the nicotine levels in their body go down and down. When it gets low enough they need another hit of nicotine. So they say that as these toxins go out of the body, people get craving for them.

If you want to see an extreme an example of this then fast and watch what happens. This is why it is almost impossible to fast for days.

It has been seen that animal products appear to have stimulants in them. Askmen.com has this:
Oysters also contain dopamine, a hormone known to increase libido.
The number of people in the world that are addicted to heroin and cocaine combined equals the number of people addicted to methamphetamine.
What makes methamphetamine such an attractive high? Meth users report that after taking the drug they experience a sudden "rush" of pleasure or a prolonged sense of euphoria, as well as increased energy, focus, confidence, sexual prowess and feelings of desirability. However, after that first try, users require more and more of the drug to get that feeling again, and maintain it. With repeated use, methamphetamine exacts a toll on the mind and body, robbing users of their physical health and cognitive abilities, their libido and good looks, and their ability to experience pleasure.

•Meth releases a surge of dopamine, causing an intense rush of pleasure or prolonged sense of euphoria.
•Over time, meth destroys dopamine receptors, making it impossible to feel pleasure.

Maybe you should try eating poppy seeds.
Opium poppy, Papaver somniferum, is the species of plant from which opium and poppy seeds are extracted. Opium is the source of many opiates, including morphine, heroin, thebaine, codeine, papaverine, and noscapine. The Latin botanical name means the "sleep-bringing poppy", referring to the sedative properties of some of these opiates.

Absolutely I have cravings/impulses.

Unless you have completely clean energy, meditate several hours per day, and/or have gone through crazy life experiences that cause you to have complete dominion over your mind, YOU will as well.

I find it best to respect them, but not take them too far. For instance, I will drink tea all day, but not go into the coffee. I will have an Agave Coconut Bar instead of a cookie. I will not give into the CRAVING every time either, but respect it to the degree that it does not drive me mentally crazy.

After a while, you begin to understand what the nebulous feelings really are. And you know when you REALLY don't want that desert, etc.

Just the other night at my family's house, I turned down the Ice Cream and Brownies because I recognized that my impulse wasn't accurate. Hard to explain, its more self-awareness than anything. When you start to really go into this stuff, a healthy lifestyle becomes much much easier.
