Default Antioxidant supplements

I have a question for those of you who take supplements and actually know what's in them - i.e., you take high-quality supplements and have done your research and know that the brand you buy is not a bunch of synthetic crap.

A friend of mine has a mother who has some terrible eye problems, and one thing the doctor recommended (in addition to surgery and other things) was high amounts of antioxidants. Now, of course, I am a strong believer in getting all that you can from raw, whole foods. But this woman does not exactly have a whole foods diet and wouldn't be able to change it soon enough to make any real change before her surgery. Plus, the amount of antioxidants that would do her any good at this stage are probably only the doses found in high-quality supplements that you would need to eat a ridiculous amount of elderberries and sea buckthorn fruit to get, or whatever.

So I was hoping that someone would be able to recommend to me a specific supplement product which contains a significant amount of absorb-able antioxidants - from a trusted company, that does not contain additives, poison, etc.
This I could recommend to her in addition to changing her diet to include more antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables.
This would be very helpful!

I know exactly what you mean by crap supplements loaded with cheap ingredients that do nothing.

There is one eye supplement I know of that meets all of your criteria. My grandmother has cataracts and she's been taking this one, and she's seeing some great improvements.

I also take it because I work on the computer every single day, so I like to help my eyes as much as I can.

Here's the link:

Natural Eye Support Supplement – Nutra Eye

Good luck

The most important antioxidants for your eyes are lutein, zeaxanthin, bilberry and ginkgo. Nature's Way makes a product called Ginkgold Eyes; it combines all these in substantial amounts.

Another relatively new discovery for eye problems is the carotenoid astaxanthin, one of the most powerful antioxidants known. It is one of the few antioxidants that can cross the blood-retinal barrier and bring nutrients to the eye. It is said to be more beneficial for the eyes in some ways than any other antioxidant.

Nutrex, the same people who make Hawaiian spirulina, make a product called EyeAstin, which combines astaxathin with lutein, zeaxanthin and bilberry. I have quite a bit of information on all these antioxidants on my website.

The product mentioned above by 36burrows is also a good formula, similar to the ones I mentioned.

As a final note, bilberry and ginkgo cannot be obtained through your diet, and astaxathin only marginally so, so supplements are your only choice for therapeutic doses.

I will recommend that she eat ginkgo. I hear he has a lot of vitamin D in him.

Also thank you for the replies I will point her towards those products.

Gotta love Capitalist culture, baby. Gotta package it as cheaply as possible and give it as much mythology as possible!!

Meanwhile, everyone who buys it continues to suffer.

All I can say is this. The award-winning chef on our website wrote recipes for a very well-known EYE doctor

His name is Dr. Krondrot - Meet Dr. Kondrot, the world's leading Homeopathic Ophthalmologist

Check that out, he is into natural healings, more of stuff that WORKS

interesting, he says:
1) Food is the best medicine! What foods will help restore your vision and what foods are robbing you of your sight?
2) 80% of people are deficient in this essential mineral for sight!
3) Proper hydration can cure many diseases!
4) How to reduce harmful stress that is linked to most eye disorders!
5) What are the facts regarding stem cell therapy?
6) How can homeopathy help your eye problem?
7) What is the scientific evidence that microcurrent can reverse macular degeneration and glaucoma?
8) What is Syntonic light therapy and how is this being used to stimulate stem cells?
9) What are the best ways to detox the body?"

Some people researched their own info, and found ways to stimulate stem cells,
as we know that we completely regrow our body every decade, and more often.
