Default Broke my fast on Saturday

Well, I was on a Spiritual liquid fast (asking God for a job to help me with my family) or until 30 days passed. Well thirty days was Saturday and I learned a lot. God was gracious enough to give me two interviews for which I desperately want and love. I may keep both when I get them. I also learned how much I am loved as my loved ones were concerned about the weight loss, which is no big deal as this is the weight I was before having children.

I learned to be more faithful and optimistic. I learned it is a promise and you shouldn't start it if you are not going to finish it. Hence everyone who didn't know I was fasting invited me to lunch and someone bought me a cheese cake which I put in the freezer and enjoyed a tiny piece on Saturday. I learned to be vitamin conscious as I would experience light headedness when standing so I allowed myself vitamins. I wish I had that new veggie fruit juicer! Also eat soft foods first not solids all at once. I also learned to pray and read scriptures and books that supported optimism, love, kindness, humility, peace, future motivational plans for my life. etc.

Up until this point even as a christian, I was blaming God for not finding work in over a years time. Now I see that is negative thinking and right in front of my face he has carried me through and found people to be generous, and money has come through the mail a few times. He has pulled me though even when I was not working and the bills kept coming. Somehow they were paid. I learned trust. Trust for a higher power that many put down and call false and non existent. Yet my faith is now strengthen from a simple gesture of self sacrifice through a fast.

*I recommend fast at your own pace and type. What is sacrificial for one person is not the same for others and like myself I started with a fast throughout the day and became gradual over many years. This was my first 30 day. Thanks for listening.

Oh, Sorry I took so long in answering.

I weighed about 135 (pounds) and now I am about 121.

I am actually a Christian and I was fasting for trust an enlightenment for
attaining a job.

I told you all the things I learned in the first post but what is really amazing is how God answers you prayer/fast/sacrifice.

I had two interviews and I will be going will be having a second interview for one and the other hired me yesterday. This is all in less than a week from breaking the fast so Although this post is about health it is also about spirituality which I believe is also health.

wow you're a lot like me. i weigh probably more. gets me down how did u manage such a long fast.i mean what were your mind thoughts and frame of mind? i mean my mind would only tell me to pack it in hence i can't complete such a long fast. also ive realised the lower in weight you are the less that comes off.

This is only my opinion, but if you fast for yourself you motivation is high. But if your fast is spiritual. It will make you stronger as your love for God is so great. (That's the mindset part). God is helping you to get through it. Your not on your own

Second, I allowed myself vitamins, and not just water, as it was a liquid fast. I made thin liquid fruit juices in the blender. Banana shakes were sifted. Teas with milk or with lemon, herbal teas, coffee, orange juice, milk, plain yogurt shakes, apple juice, cranberry juice, vitamin drinks found in the supermarket, Snapple, Ice tea, lemonade, broth soups, soup from scratch or oriental soup packets without noodles.

Third, I started with a one day fast, then three day, then a week, then two weeks and then 30 days. This was over five years before I did 30 days! I wanted a job so bad I wanted to show God how serious I was so I did thirty days.

I find I am more conscious of what I put in my mouth now that it is over. This has been a good experience.

OMG Wow!
Tell me something, did you not eat anything for these whole thirty days?
How did you control your urges when you wanted to eat?

It's simply awesome what you did! We have as a society become so obsessed with food that we have come to a point where we live to eat, rather than the other way round. I really wish I can exercise your restraint! I would love to hear how you controlled your thoughts during this whole thing

Jews have been fasting for thousands of years to help their lot in life. Indians have been fasting for thousands of years for boons. Since Jesus was a Jew, He did a 40 day fast. Ancient Greeks like Pythogoras also did fasting.

ginkgo, I didn't realize that. I especially had to look up boons as I never heard of it.

justmee, out of the blue, I received a phone call with a job offer, four days later. Three work days later. (After not having a job for a year!)

I say no accident, but totally the working of God.

MovingForward, I love your avatar name. The job is in my field for counseling so I am happy. I enjoy working with families so that makes me even happier. I went on a training so it's official. I'm waiting for my first paycheck. This forum has been pretty supportive. I must admit. My husband had a good talk with me about being concerned fro how much weight I lost and even insisted that I break my fast and eat. I would not do it. Now he is happy that it is over. I have to admit I was tempted to listen at 21 days. Whew, I made it.
